Responsibilities:
Shawmut is looking for a Scheduling Manager to join our team. The purpose of this role is to provide project teams with scheduling support, quality control, reporting, risk assessment and issues tracking/mitigation to help project teams meet their contractual obligations and deliver schedules on time. This role supports teams in both Project Pursuit and Execution.
Project Pursuit
- Participate in effort that drives development of proposals and interview preparation.
- Provides input during RFP process around logistics, schedules and constructability.
- Participate in client meetings, interviews and presentations.
- Develop bid schedule options and project logistics in deal reviews.
Project Preparation
- Develop comprehensive understanding of project strategy and deploy throughout preconstruction.
- Ensure proper set-up of and adherence to established best practices/processes.
- Verifies that projects are set up in compliance with published guidelines and that they allow for easy tracking against performance.
- Partner with estimating, project management and other key stakeholders.
- Serves as a scheduling expert and resource to assist Project teams develop baseline work plans that can be tracked throughout the construction process.
- Use historical data to develop activity durations
Project Scheduling
- Work with project teams to ensure every project is set up with a viable schedule, including procurement.
- Transition project to construction phase activities.
- Prepare concise monthly schedule narratives.
- Work with operations to periodically review schedule progress on active projects.
- Participates, drives and facilitates team schedule updates to verify performance against the plan and ensure that all parties are being held accountable. Ensures that updates are done in a logical and traceable way. Verifies that teams are inputting issues into the schedule real-time to verify impact to project critical path. Review results with Scheduling Director and appropriate Con Ops / Field Ops staff as required.
- Reconcile discrepancies from actual vs planned process and drive recovery process for projects facing scheduling challenges.
- Leverages available software to mitigate risks and increase visibility, communication and accountability for all Stakeholders. Keep up to date with industry and software advancements.
- Ensures accuracy when maintaining and organizing data.
- Provides schedule oversight throughout the construction process of projects that have been awarded.
- Create visual schedules, integrate lean methodologies into the CPM schedule, apply production management techniques via linear scheduling or takt planning.
- On a monthly basis, audits all schedules for conformance to SDC Guidelines and Industry standards. Verify that updates are being done, saved and distributed.
- Provide constructability feedback (challenges, risks, solutions).
People Development
- Coach and fill in gaps for construction operations staff who need scheduling support.
- Drive and participate in continuous learning efforts especially as it relates to scheduling methodology and industry best practices for schedule management, recovery and contractual requirements. Partner with IT to dovetail with Technical Training Efforts for software usage.
- Manages a Team of Schedulers.
Regional Reporting
- Develops and maintains Regional Reporting on Project Performance, SOP's and Risk
- Gathers and Organizes and Applies Project Lessons Learned.
Qualifications:
- 8 to 10+ years of construction experience.
- Advanced P6 experience is a must have to provide CPM Scheduling support.
- Experience/knowledge in issuing claims.
- Strong presentation and proposal skills.
- Vast knowledge of all trades and all phases of the preconstruction processes: scope, time frames/field execution, typical missed scope/exposures, conceptual, final pricing/competitive bidding and market conditions.
- Construction related bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Lean construction experience preferred.
