Consultant, Resource Management

APCO Worldwide is seeking a Resource Manager to join our quickly growing team and can be based in our offices in Washington DC, Chicago or Raleigh. The role is designed to engage our client staff and create client assignments that align with their interests and intersect with our overall business goals. Developing our talent is one of our highest priorities here at APCO, so our Resource Management team is the front line for employee engagement and retention.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Get close to the people you’re working with – understand what their skillsets are, what type of work they want to pursue as they grow their career, and what client accounts will help them on that trajectory. Report out trends to leadership and the wider business together with the rest of our team.
  • Work with our Client Managers when we win new business to develop teams with the right balance of skills and experience. Increase awareness of what an effective, business-oriented, and most importantly diverse team looks like.
  • Get into the data: interpret and analyze data to provide trends to our team and the leadership team. Regularly review the forecast vs actuals, make connections and spot opportunities to improve utilization, profitability, or strategic alignment. Be unafraid to provide evidence-based challenge where needed.
  • Work closely with our partners on the Talent team by determining hiring trends and forecasting what the business needs next in terms of top talent!

Requirements

  • Degree in a related field or equivalent experience (3-4 years+)
  • Professional services agency experience in Resource Management, People Operations, Business Management, Operations, or consulting-side roles
  • Excellent teamwork and relationship building skills
  • Strategic, forward planning approach, commercially astute
  • Strong analytical skills / experience using Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with systems and databases
  • Agile thinking and innovative problem solving
  • Resilient and comfortable dealing with ambiguity
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting demands
  • Most of the time will be based your home office (where flexible working also applies) and travel around the region may be asked
