Container Build Engineer

Summary of Position:

The Container Build Engineer will design containerization technologies, monitor, and build scalable complex applications for users. The Container Build Engineer will be required to think critically about a problem, evaluate the solution set, and pick the right course of action given the set of constraints within the specified deadline; whilst working and collaborating in a team setting. The Container Build Engineer will work closely with the Technical Manager and provide milestones and the current status for deliverables.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for integrating and defining containerization technologies, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Build, scale, and monitor highly available applications
• Create and enhance our application's CI/CD pipelines
• Design the architecture and product roadmap
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features
• Assist with architecture, product roadmap, and technical specification planning
• Document any code created so other developers can understand and contribute to it
• Conduct code reviews to ensure compliance with quality standards, code integrity, and understanding and implementation of security and data protection
• Design and participate in the implementation of automated tests
• Suggest new features, algorithms, and tools to grow component maturity level
• Identify areas of improvement in our frameworks, tools, and processes
• Participate in programs that align with the mission, vision, and values of the company
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency
• Work with web server technologies like Apache, Nginx, etc.
• Work with CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee in this position frequently communicates with other co-workers/clients who have inquiries about the various projects and other needs. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time. The employee in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operate a computer and office machinery such as a calculator, keyboard, copy machine, and printer. Frequently moves boxes with equipment weighing up to 25 lbs. across the building and/or to other offsite buildings for various project needs.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
• 2+ Years of Experience

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of industry experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud deployment technologies such as Terraform
• Experience in managing CI/CD pipelines: experience with Gitlab YML, Jenkins, and/or Github Actions is preferred
• Red Hat Certified Specialist in Containers
• Scripting languages: Bash/dash/ash shell, Python, and/or Perl
• Secure micro-service and container best practices
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Experience with Agile development practices
• Strong understanding of common sysadmin server operations and resource management
• Network protocols on a user level
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and independently with minimum supervision
• Outstanding written skills
• 2+ years of experience working in software product development
• 2+ years of Ruby or Python development experience
• Experience working in all phases of the software development lifecycle
• Ability to develop from detailed technical specifications
• Ability to assess technical tradeoffs and suggest design solutions
• Experience with RESTful API development
• API design best practice concepts
• Experience with source control such as Git
• Understanding of security best practice concepts
• Familiarity with performance and scalability
• Ability to code and script
