About the Role
As an Architect, you will provide effective architectural and structural design for the applicable RELX Business Unit. You will be ensuring ongoing development, maintenance, and delivery of technical knowledge and expertise. Alongside this, you'll be determining the technical feasibility of development projects. The Data Architect will be responsible for the strategic design of data architecture and AI systems. Their job is to optimize databases, develop ETL/ELT solutions, AI solutions, and manage automatized data flow - typically across multiple systems; mentor more junior members of the team, talk to users/customers, and translate their requests into elegant cost-effective solutions.
Requirements:

Experience in data management area with technical competencies required.
-
Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering/Computer Science preferred but not required); or equivalent experience required
-
Experience in Azure/AWS Cloud required
-
Strong proficiency with data manipulation and optimization techniques.
-
Strong understanding of normalized, dimensional, and graph data modeling principles.
-
Strong knowledge of multiple data storage and processing systems ETL and ELT: Spark, DataBricks, Synapse, EMR, AirFlow S3, Blob.
-
Strong knowledge of multiple AI frameworks
-
Strong knowledge of model handling and drift
-
Expertise in development languages including but not limited to: Python, R, Java/J2EE/Scala, JavaScript, SQL,. Net.

Ability to interface and lead other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.

Ability to work well with internal and external technology resources.
-
Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components.

Solid project management skills.

Understanding of automation/other tools to increase efficiency.

Strong problem solving and research skills.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve process inefficiencies.

Responsibilities:

Architecturally ensure data loads meet security, data, and architecture standards.

Lead other technical personnel or team members to document, interpret, finalize, and deliver requirements.

Produce code that is efficient, repeatable, without defects, and adherent to best practices such as naming conventions, encapsulation, etc.

Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of data components.

Investigate complex data engineering issues, researching and identifying root causes as appropriate resolutions.

Identify opportunities to apply automation or other tools to improve effectiveness or efficiency.

Work closely with development team members to understand complex product requirements and translate them into data engineering and/or data management designs.

Innovate process improvements that enable efficient delivery and maintenance.

Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews
