Job Description
Elevate the work of the Division of Campus Planning, Infrastructure, and Facilities and its people through content creation. The division provides safe, inclusive, accessible, sustainable, mission-centric, partner-focused, and cost-effective spaces that preserve, foster, complement, and advance Virginia Tech’s distinct senses of place and service.
Reporting to the director of communications for the Division of Campus Planning, Infrastructure, and Facilities, the content creator will provide photo and video content for use on the division’s website, in print publications, in advertising, in public relations outreach, across social media platforms, in email communications, and in other media as needs arise. In collaboration with the director of communications, division leadership, and other team members, the content creator will seek out opportunities for visual storytelling and provide support for internal training. The content creator will also assist with script writing, photo/video captioning, and photo/video asset management. The content creator may also help with motion design as needs arise.
The ideal candidate will have proven ability to create visual content appropriate for a range of audiences and platforms, including long-form videos and polished photos suitable for storytelling and short-form and unpolished videos and photos suitable for social media. The ideal candidate will also have experience developing content that advances organizational brand identity, mission, and vision.
This position is Hybrid telework eligible.
A portfolio of work, inclusive of photo and video work appropriate for a variety of platforms and uses, is required as part of the initial application.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated professional experience in both photography and videography (internships are acceptable)
Detailed knowledge of photography/videography lighting
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and consistently deliver high quality results on time and on budget.
Proficiency with content creation software including Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, and more.
Experience developing photos and video content for a variety of social media platforms including Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong team player with the ability to work effectively with partners and employees at all levels.
Proficient in independently scheduling and executing photo and video shoots.
Proficiency in Microsoft and Google platforms, especially Google Drive and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience creating content in the construction industry.
Experience creating content that advances organizational brand identity, mission, and vision.
Experience using project management tools such as Wrike.
Experience creating motion design content.
