Content Strategist (San Francisco or New York or Remote)

Figma is growing our team of passionate people on a mission to make design accessible to all. Born on the Web, Figma helps entire product teams brainstorm, create, test, and ship better designs, together. From great products to long-lasting companies, we believe that nothing great is made alone—come make with us!

We are growing our Communications, Content and Community Marketing Team. We believe that telling stories that spotlight the power and impact of design is essential to building Figma’s long-term brand and audience. This role will focus primarily in writing with opportunity to broaden into multimedia storytelling over time. This person will help us generate thought leadership, brand, and community-oriented stories that bring a journalistic, must-read quality to our audience. The ideal candidate will be fluent in the design, tech, and cultural zeitgeist and have a proven portfolio of editorial writing.

This is a full-time role that can be held from one of our US hubs (NY or SF) or remotely in the United States.

What you’ll do at Figma:

  • Pitch and develop for stories from both inside and outside of Figma that center around creativity, innovation, communication, and culture.
  • Conceive and create that content for our editorial and product channels, synthesizing our community and product capabilities with the current trends and topical issues.
  • Play the role of editor with Figmates around the company, helping to conceive stories and develop packages for our editorial channels
  • Focus on augmenting our distribution levers, including new editorial initiatives (newsletters, social, in-product communications)
  • Oversee content touch points and ensure clear connection to our holistic GTM strategies for your projects.
  • Manage stakeholder approvals, working closely with product, growth, and brand marketing, events, PR, and legal teams to ensure your work is meeting business and quality requirements.
  • Measure the impact of editorial content and use data to inform your decision-making
  • Collaborate on XFN brand, marketing, and content projects
  • Continually assess the success of your content and adjust accordingly

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience in journalism or narrative-driven content marketing (a must)
  • A portfolio of written and produced work that is “must-read”
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and optimistic creativity
  • Facility with analytics and SEO best practices
  • A love for getting your hands dirty
  • Attention to detail
  • Passion for design is a plus

We will work to ensure individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please let your recruiter know if you require accommodation.

About Figma

Dylan Field and Evan Wallace co-founded Figma in 2012 with the vision of building tools for designers in the browser. Their goal was to create the first design tool that combined the accessibility of the Web with the functionality of a native app. Today Figma is a platform with tools and spaces to support the entire product development process—idea to design to build—and has simplified collaboration for companies like Microsoft, Uber, and The New York Times to name a few.

At Figma, we celebrate and support our differences. We know employing a team rich in diverse backgrounds, experiences, and opinions allows our employees, products, and community to flourish. Figma is an equal opportunity workplace—we are dedicated to equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national orientation, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or Veteran status. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements.

By applying for this job, the candidate acknowledges and agrees that any personal data contained in their application or supporting materials will be processed in accordance with the applicable candidate section of Figma's Privacy Policy
