The Controller is accountable for the accounting operations of the company. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of the accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. The Controller is also responsible for enhancing the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or internal financial reporting standards.
Responsibilities:
The Controller is accountable for the accounting operations of the company. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of the accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. The Controller is also responsible for enhancing the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or internal financial reporting standards.
- Supervise and provide leadership to build and maintain a strong team through effective communications, recruiting, training, coaching, counseling, appraising, rewarding, developing, and succession planning. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Oversees directly or indirectly the activities related to general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, debt and cash.
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of internal controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk, ensure the financial statements are accurate and out-of-period adjustments are minimized.
- Oversees the production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or internal financial reporting standards.
- Serves as the business leader for the new accounting system implementation; makes recommendations and decisions on processes improvements to ensure enhanced efficiency and accuracy.
- Coordinates activities and special projects with external auditors, vendors and other departments; able to manage tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
- Oversees the day-to-day treasury function including daily cash transfers and reconciliations; assists with equipment financing as needed.
- Researches and implements technical accounting issues and new accounting standards.
- Directly or indirectly oversees regulatory reporting.
- Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
Course(s) of Study: Accounting or Finance
Experience:
10 + years, Type of Experience: Must possess 10+ years of experience within the accounting or finance function.
- Must have excellent communication and management kills.
- This position also must have strong analytical and project management skills.
