Controller

The Role

The TopSpot Controller is responsible for leading and guiding our Accounting Team comprised of AR, Bookkeeping & AP, and Payroll & Benefits Team Members. This individual has established experience as a Controller with strong analytical skills, and extensive experience in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), tax laws, internal controls, and financial forecasting. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded, ethical leader with experience developing & leading a high-performing Team and possesses strong critical thinking and communication skills.

Essential Functions

• Planning, directing, and coordinating all Accounting Operations
• Communicating & presenting financial reports with Accounting Team and Executive Leadership
• Ethically lead & guide Accounting Team and financial responsibilities daily
• Prepare consistent, timely, and accurate financial reporting, coordinating with vendors & CPA where appropriate
• Provide Executive Leadership with all financial information for decision making and considerations across the organization
• Manage budgeting process
• Assess Accounting Operations, offering recommendations for improvement, evolving our approach
• Responsible for ethical & effective Accounting and Internal Control Systems
• Responsible for the effectiveness and decision making around Accounting Technology and SaaS
• Hiring, developing, and leading a high performing Accounting Team

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years as a Controller
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration
• MBA and/or CPA preferred
• Experience in leading a Team, developing others, and giving feedback
• Knowledgeable in all aspects of GAAP
• Experience implementing and managing internal controls
• Experience with taxes and compliance with local and state requirements
• Experience producing and presenting financial reports, annual budgets, and forecasts
• Advanced Excel knowledge & skill for preparing financial analysis reports
• Experience using Business Intelligence (BI) tools for reporting, data analytics, and continuous monitoring a plus
• Experience creating financial statements and month-end reporting packages and presenting to Board of Directors, Leadership Teams
• Successful track record of forecasting financial results and metrics.
• Experience with common accounting software and ERP systems
• Strong organizational, time management & planning skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• High level of discernment, discretion, and confidentiality. Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
