We are looking for a Controls Engineer intern to join our team. You will be part of the Guidance, Navigation and Controls (GNC) team that builds, tests, and flies our Gen6 subscale (prototype) aircraft.

Why we need you:

    • Our goal is to build the first fully autonomous all-electric aircraft that performs and operates safely in an urban air-mobility environment. In support of this goal, you will be part of the GNC team that helps verify our controller architecture and analysis tools. This is done through the development and testing of our subscale aircraft.

What you will do:

    • Design and implement various aspects of the subscale vehicle’s control system
    • Implement lessons learned towards the fullscale aircraft’s control system
    • Develop the software and hardware-in-the-loop simulation environments, and conduct Real-Time Tests with HIL Test Benches
    • Create software tools for analyzing control system and performing data analysis
    • Overseeing and participating in flight test operations
    • Performing hands on work for aircraft assembly, wiring, and systems integration
    • Support Gen6 subscale, controller development, and flight physics simulation and vehicle modeling teams

What you have done:

    • You have worked on various aircraft design projects
    • You have hands-on experience designing and building mechanical and electrical systems
    • You have a theoretical and applied knowledge of control systems, aerodynamics, and simulation

Skill Requirements:

    • You are familiar with:
    • Matlab/Simulink
    • Control Systems Design
    • Aircraft Dynamics
    • UAV Prototyping Experience

Eligibility Requirements:

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
    • Must live in the US at both the time of application AND at the time the internship begins
    • Must be either a rising Junior, Senior or Graduate student in college
    • Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0, transcripts are required
    • Must be an enrolled student at both the time of application AND at the time the internship begins
    • Must be able to work 40 hours a week for 12 weeks (full-time 3 months)
    • Must be able to work pacific standard time (PST)
Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range the Company expects to pay: $25 an hour
