The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing legal guidance and support including litigation and other contested matters, commercial contracting, and global employee relations. This role reports directly to the VP, Deputy General Counsel and is an excellent opportunity for a talented attorney looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic and innovative healthcare-focused organization.Please note this is a remote-based role and the ideal candidate will be East Coast based, preferably near one of our US-based offices in either Lexington MA, Bridgewater NJ or Memphis TN.About the RoleDuties and Responsibilities:• Work closely with internal stakeholders to achieve business objectives while managing and mitigating legal risks.• Provide legal support to U.S. Deputy General Counsel in connection with litigation and other potential and active disputes.• Manage external counsel including effective budget management.• Collaborate with business colleagues and members of the legal team and contract managers to draft, review, and manage day-to-day sales, procurement, and other commercial agreements.• Review sales and marketing materials to ensure legal compliance and adequate substantiation.• Provide employment law support to human resources colleagues and Chief Compliance Officer.• Collaborate with cross-functional legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.• Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, and practices that comply with applicable laws and regulations.• Conduct training sessions and provide educational resources to employees and managers on legal matters to promote legal awareness and compliance within the organization.Competencies:• Creates a sense of purpose or vision for self, group or team, demonstrating a strong team-oriented philosophy.• Demonstrates strong and effective communication skills.• Translates broad strategies into specific objectives and action plans.• Demonstrates excellent research, project management and time management skills with the ability to set challenging, but achievable objectives.• Demonstrates ability to develop creative legal solutions to legal and extra-legal concerns or problems• Demonstrates superior organizational and analytical skills and a consistent high quality of work product and able to handle a demanding workload and to effectively prioritize tasks• Demonstrates desire to know and learn Convatec’s businesses, products and servicesCommunicates Directly• Honestly communicates direction, opinions, facts and goals clearly and with transparency.• Seeks multiple perspectives and listens openly to other team members’ points of view.• Enables and demonstrates the courage to speak up on challenging issues and risks as well as on the good news.Collaborates• Works across organizational, functional and geographic boundaries to achieve company goals.• Builds and maintains strong relationships with team members, other functions, strategic partners and customers.• Works cooperatively with others to meet group and organizational goals.Energizes Others• Creates and environment that encourages continuous improvement, innovation and appropriate risk taking.• Focuses organization on key priorities that impact our business.• Adapts to or drives positive change.About YouEducation/Qualifications:• Law degree from an ABA-accredited law school• Admission to the bar in the state of New Jersey or another state, and eligible for in-house counsel registration.• Five (5) or more years of experience as an attorney, preferably in healthcare, life sciences, or a related industry, with a focus on litigation and employment law.• Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state laws and regulations.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and group presentation skills.• Demonstrated ability to provide strategic legal advice and counsel to global business partners within varied functions and global business units• High degree of professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior.Travel Requirements:The position may require limited business travel within the U.S., with occasional visits to Canada and Europe.
