40Summary:
The APV of Research Informatics is responsible for the portfolio of applications and/or systems that are used to conduct research at the Cook Childrens Health Care System. The Director will be highly collaborative and proactively engage Cook Childrens research stakeholders in the planning, budgeting, development and/or support of technology used by the research community. He/she will ensure that all decisions and/or investments in research technologies align with Information Services policies and strategic plan. The AVP will have significant professional experience working within academic medical centers including governance models, research cores, funding sources/grants, Institutional Review Board, research studies/protocols, information security/privacy, compliance and cost/resource allocation models. Further, he/she will serve as a resource to the research community by having knowledge of commonly used commercially available and/or open-source research applications/systems. The AVP will also have broad administrative responsibilities that include strategic planning, capital/operating budgets, project/program management, resource planning, and change management. He/she is also expected to be an ambassador of the organization through employee engagement and will work with staff on performance reviews, coaching, mentoring and other professional development. Education: 1.Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of management experience2. At least 5 years of experience in healthcare and/or with an academic medical center.3. At least 10 years of experience working with information technology4. Analytical thought processes and strong organizational, team building, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills.5. Proven ability to commit to and meet deadlines.6. Good communication and project skills.7. Research information systems (RIS) and implementation experience.8. Experience with applications/tools such as R, Stata, SAS, SPSS, MySQL, SQL, Oracle, Python, MATLAB, FTP, etc.9. Experience with high performance computing clusters.10. Experience with inter-institutional large data set sharing models and high speed research networks. Preferred qualifications: 1.Graduate degree in a field related to research computing and/or information services2.Experience participating in organizations such as Educause, Internet2, Lonestar Education and Research Network (LEARN), etc. Certification/Licensure: None required, although relevant industry certifications given preference.About Us:
