Job Summary:

The Cook is responsible for preparing meals and following Heinens established recipes within a food production environment at a Heinens Store location. This includes a variety of foods that require only a short preparation time. The cook must follow all food health and safety procedures, at all times.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Prepare a variety of foods, such as sandwiches, wraps, trays, according to customers' orders following approved procedures.
• Prepare various grilled, fried and baked foods.
• Utilize various kitchen equipment including: grill, oven, steamer, slicer, food processor, rotisserie oven, tilt skillet, open fryer, gas stove, pressure fryer, etc.
• Wash, peel, and cut various foods, such as fruits, vegetables and meats, to prepare for cooking or serving.
• Follow Heinens panning, packaging, and merchandising standards.
• Execute proper production levels based on forecasting.
• Perform pre and post operational checks daily for sanitation and safety.
• Rotate product based on expiration.
• Take and record temperature of food and food storage areas, such as refrigerators and freezers.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware.
• Utilize food safety logs, label and date product.
• Create, submit and follow-up on orders, as appropriate.
• Utilize menu planning and menu planning tool.
• Perform weekly inventory.
• Prioritize daily work based on varying business needs.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 
  High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read and follow directions and recipes.
• Cooking experience, knowledge, and skills.
• Must possess a sense of urgency and the ability to work independently, or on a team, to achieve daily tasks.
• Deliver high level of customer service and communication with associates and customers.
• Knowledge of ingredients and product quality.
• Strong time management skills, planning skills, and organizing skills.
• Flexible and adaptable; able to cope with unexpected events.
• Ability to make appropriate decisions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Must be willing to work the amount of hours required to meet company objectives.
• Must be production driven with the ability to work continuously on repetitive tasks while standing.
• Ability to work in hot and cold environment.
• Must possess the ability to lift up to 75lbs. of product.
