For the Coordinator Corporate Communications, this means you have the desire to motivate, engage and activate our crewmembers through communications. No day will ever be the same. You’ll be writing for multiple internal communications mediums, sharing important operational information while keeping an eye out for opportunities to highlight shining examples of JetBlue’s culture in action. You’ll help our crewmembers know where JetBlue is headed and build understanding of how each individual can support the airline’s success. We’re looking for someone that is passionate about crafting engaging and compelling operational content each and every day. You must be adept at translating complex terminology into interesting and relatable communications, throwing aside “corporate speak” to build a real connection with our crewmembers in both our support centers and on the frontline. The information you will share with crewmembers will help lay out the big picture to enhance their understanding and appreciation for the role they play in the broader JetBlue landscape and our highly-regarded crewmember culture. You’re the eyes and ears of news for our crewmembers.
The Coordinator Corporate Communications is an entry-level role and reports to the Senior Manager Corporate Communications. The Coordinator will assist with the development and implementation of internal communications activities that illustrate the JetBlue brand clearly to our frontline crewmembers. Plus, you’ll have additional writing opportunities across an assortment of communication mediums and will work with the rest of the communications team to help execute the overall communications strategy for JetBlue.
The Coordinator will work directly with departmental stakeholders on a variety of topics, and will need an inquisitive mind to not only quickly develop a working understanding of the latest news, but also understand how it affects crewmembers in diverse roles across the company. Resulting communications will align with JetBlue’s brand voice and operation so crewmembers have timely, accurate, and reliable communications waiting for them when they need it most.
Essential Responsibilities

Develop a keen understanding of the JetBlue voice and the voice/style of various JetBlue leaders and apply throughout communications

Development of internal communications materials, activities and events in support of frontline workgroups

Write and edit newsletters, manuals, and other materials and coordinate the distribution to frontline crewmembers

Coordinate departmental announcements and notices to ensure consistent presentation

Liaison with other internal and external communicators to execute timely and coordinated communication plans

Maintain the day-to-day content and upkeep of workgroup-related information presented on HelloJetBlue (intranet) and posts on On the Fly (intranet app), and email communications

Maintain engagement with the operation and provide communications support to crewmembers and crewleaders when needed

Provide audio/visual and event support for communications purposes as needed

Offer general communication support for communication initiatives

Collaborate with internal stakeholders from various departments to gather information on respective initiatives. Then, “translate” departmental speak for different audiences including the frontline group and leadership teams as well as company-wide communications to support and move initiatives forward

Assist in crisis communication, after-hours media relations, and other communications responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager of Corporate Communications

Assist in identifying and executing integrated storytelling and content development opportunities for internal audiences as part of a team focused on achieving best results from every communications opportunity

Assist in identifying and implementing new channels of communication focused on engaging and inspiring a diverse workforce

Be fearless in asking for more details when partnering and collaborating with crewmembers, crewleaders, and other stakeholders and communicators

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience

One (1) year of demonstrated experience (includes internship experience), in internal communications, journalism and/or public relations, or relevant front line operational experience.

Must possess strong organizational, planning, and time-management abilities to be able to produce multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines

Self-motivated and able to work independently and manage self towards goals, while being a genuine team player

Basic Photoshop and HTML skills
-
Basic understanding of social media platforms

Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office suite of products
-
Attention to detail while providing exceptional customer service with little supervision

Excellent troubleshooting/problem-solving skills
-
Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)

Valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States

Able to pass a pre-employment drug test

Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

Three (3) years of professional corporate communications or agency experience

Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading skills, and speaking

Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism

Potential need to work flexible hours, afterhours and weekends, and be available to respond on short-notice

Able to maintain a professional appearance

When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Compensation:

The base pay range for this position is between $23.00 and $30.00 per hour. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
