Position Vacancy Announcement

Florida A&M University's Office of Strategic Planning, Analysis and Institutional Effectiveness is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for a Research Assistant.

Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will assist with the data collection that supports the Division of Strategic Planning, Analysis, and Institutional Effectiveness activities, which supports professional staff and will play a wide range of roles in analyzing qualitative and quantitative data. Assists with a variety of projects or tasks which require specific knowledge and skill; Works with complex and confidential materials; Prepares materials to update web pages; Collects compiles and organizes data; Checks reports/data for completeness, reasonableness, accuracy, and comparability, with other data; Prepares tables, charts, graphs, and statistical information; Contributes to analysis and interpretation of data for surveys and other projects as well as writing drafts of results; Compiles, reads, abstracts and organizes written material into summaries; Writes briefs/reports and synthesize research materials; Prepares notes and information on meetings and conferences; Works in may initiatives as it relates to the Division of Strategic Planning, Analysis, and Institutional Effectiveness; and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of experience; or master's degree in appropriate area of specialization.

Recommended Competencies

Ability to utilize strong problem-solving and analytical skills;
Excellent attention to detail with solid editing skills;
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet ambitious deadlines;
Ability to work independently to achieve outcomes that support the strategic goals of Strategic Planning, Analysis, and Institutional Effectiveness;
Ability to perform intermediate computer skills that include Word, Excel, Access, SAS, SPSS, or SQL; and
Knowledge of statistical techniques and statistical software.

Pay Plan

This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education. An official college transcript, a high school diploma, or other educational documents must be submitted, where applicable, at the time of employment.
Only United States (U.S.) citizens or aliens who have a legal right to work in the U.S. are eligible for employment. Federal law requires proof of your authorization to work in the United States. You will be required to provide proof of your identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of employment.
Section 110.1128, Florida Statutes, prohibits employment by the State (including re-hire after a break in service) of any male born after October 1, 1962, who failed to register with the Selective Service System, under the provisions of the U.S. Military Selective Service Act, during the person’s period of eligibility (ages 18 through 25). Additionally, if currently employed by the State, this law prohibits the promotion of such person. You may be required to provide documentation.
