Freelance VRM / VRoid 3D Artist for Anime-Inspired Avatars 🏕

We're a small, fast-moving AI studio building anime avatar experiences. Our first product lets users create and interact with AI-powered anime characters in their browser. We're looking for a talented 3D artist to help create high-quality VRM models that will serve as the foundation for our avatars.

The Role

We're seeking a freelance 3D artist with expertise in creating VRM/VRoid models for anime-style characters. You'll work directly with our founding team to create expressive, high-quality avatars that work well with real-time animation systems.

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality VRM models using VRoid Studio or similar tools

• Design and implement facial expressions and blendshapes

• Optimize models for web performance

• Set up proper rigging for real-time animation

• Create variations and customization options

• Ensure models work well with our Three.js-based renderer

Requirements

• Strong portfolio showing anime-style 3D character creation

• Expert knowledge of VRoid Studio or similar VRM creation tools

• Experience creating and optimizing VRM models

• Understanding of facial expressions and blendshapes

• Knowledge of rigging and weight painting

• Experience with model optimization for real-time/web use

• Strong eye for anime aesthetics and character design

• Ability to work independently and iterate quickly

• Good written English communication

Nice to Have

• Experience with Unity or Three.js

• Background in VTuber model creation

• Understanding of real-time animation systems

• Experience creating customizable avatar systems

• Knowledge of web graphics optimization
