TBIT Terminal Refresh Design Manager

Overview

Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking a TBIT Terminal Refresh Design Manager to support an airport project within the Facilities Sector. The TBIT Terminal Refresh Design Manager reports to the TBIT Terminal Refresh Project Managerand is responsible for the design management of the TBIT Terminal Refresh Project. The TBIT Terminal Refresh Project will perform major renovations of the TBIT departures and arrivals levels toinclude new Terrazzo, ceilings, wall linings, information booths, ticket counters, common-use self-service kiosks as well as reconfiguration of the domestic baggage claim and recheck area. The characteristi cs of the candidate shall include a solid understanding of airport terminal functi onsand assets such as passenger processing, baggage processing, airline operati ons, and aircraft /apronrequirements.The individual must be knowledgeable in all design deliverables and be able to recognize quality vs. incomplete design work and take appropriate actions accordingly. The individual shall be driven to “think outside the box” and find design solutions while collaborating with stakeholders and designers.

 

The TBIT Terminal Refresh Design Manager establishes and monitors procedures for architectural & engineering review activities to ensure they are done according to best practices and standards identified in the Contract. The TBIT Terminal Refresh Design Manager shall oversee design supportmanagement, scope of work management, design review and approval, permitti ng, agencycoordinati on support, and building informati on modelling (BIM) coordinati on. The TBIT Terminal Refresh Design Manager supports the TBIT Terminal Refresh Project Manager in providing oversightof the architectural, structural, mechanical electrical plumbing (MEP), civil, utilities, and IT disciplines per LAWA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the review and approval of technical documents
  • Lending expertise to manage comment resolution
  • Facilitating meetings and being the technical liaison between the Developers/Design-Builders and TDIP Subject Matter Expert teams
  • Working with the TBIT Terminal Refresh Project Manager in defining, reviewing and/or approving design requirements, responsibilities and program consistency
  • Providing guidance to the TBIT Terminal Refresh Project Manager should design requirementscontained in the project documents not be clearly defi ned
  • Providing technical review of changes to scope of work for each project
  • Establishing submitt al approval procedures and ensure uniformity of review approach
  • Auditing project team comments and designer responses
  • Monitoring compliance with architectural and engineering guidelines for the TBIT Terminal Refresh Project ensuring consistency and quality in design
  • Monitoring permitti ng informati on and the permitti ng process required by the design team
  • Supporti ng the TBIT Terminal Refresh Project Manager to ensure design reviews are completedon ti me and within budget
  • Developing and maintaining TBIT Terminal Refresh Project scope tracker to verify that all scopeelements are accounted for and have been or will be assigned to a project
  • Providing guidance related to the functi onal requirements contained in the technicalspecifi cati ons or other project documents supplied by LAWA
  • Monitoring BIM producti ons of all designers and contractors according to LAWA BIM Standards,the BIM Executi on Plan, and needs of the TBIT Terminal Refresh Project. The TBIT TerminalRefresh Design Manager is responsible for working with LAWA’s Central Building Informati onManagement (cBIM) to develop the strategy for BIM implementation and review
  • Acting as technical liaison for the design review processes and comment resolution incoordination with the project manager and the Design Review Team (DRT).
  • Managing the distribution of the design documents to the LAWA Design Review Team (DRT) for review and coordinating meetings for comment resolutions.
  • Providing technical support and coordination between the TBIT Terminal Refresh Project team and other TDIP project teams for program consistency across all disciplines
  • Providing technical Support for adjacent LAWA projects as required to ensure accurate interface
  • Providing technical coordinati on for project consistency across all disciplines
  • Preparing and reviewing briefings, meeting agendas, and supporting materials for various meetings including Board presentations, Steering Committee meeting, Stakeholder outreach,and other TDIP meetings

Qualifications

  • 15 years or more experience in managing the design of large, complex building projects, utilities and infrastructure improvements, preferably on airport projects
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, and/or related field required
  • Professionally licensed Architect and/or Engineer strongly preferred
  • Design management of complex aviation improvements experience required
  • Experience managing a team of design professionals
  • Experience with projects more than $100 million in value.
  • Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR and Design/Build
  • Proven ability to perform in a management capacity
  • Excellent written and oral communicati on skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations
  • Must have a self-starter atti tude with proactive, results-oriented focus; and willing and capable to assume additional responsibilities
  • Must be able to interface with a variety of people with different technical levels and educational backgrounds
  • Must be detail oriented and highly organized
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
  • Familiarity with Project Management Information Systems
  • Ability to work in CAD or REVIT a plus

 

Salary Range: $136,000 to $154,000 per year

Location: Los Angeles, CA.

Work Environment: Onsite
