Job Description

JOB DETAILS 

Pay starts at $23 per hour 

1st Shift: 7am-3:30pm Monday-Friday

Duties and Responsibilities 

Provide extrusion troubleshooting services to production as needed to resolve problems, including process modifications, tooling alterations to maintain a process capable of meeting customer requirements. In addition to troubleshooting, tool maintenance and minor flow adjustments will be performed as necessary, along with process improvements to maintain a competitive productivity level

  • Able to assess a situation and determine if an issue is machine related or process related and take corrective action
  • Efficiently work on non-conforming processes to get them in specification
  • Diagnose complex extrusion problems to resolve issues, inclusive of flow corrections
  • Work with the supervisor, lead, engineering, and maintenance to resolve complex issues
  • Assist with production qualification runs including capability assessment
  • Participate in and support projects that are driven by business initiatives
  • Provide training, instruction, and guidance to production associates
  • Support, train, and assess associate learned skills through the Pay for Skills program
  • Work in a safe manner and follow safety policies. Ensure co-workers are working safely and following safety policies
  • Train new operators
  • Analyze SPC data to determine process/product conformance and trends
  • Analyze production data and make necessary adjustments to operation of machines within the work cell
  • Identify and communicate appropriately when electrical/mechanical/technical support is needed
  • Participate and sustain 5S activities
  • Participate in and lead kaizen events and sustain improvements from those events
  • Maintain and develop back-up tooling and transition tooling into production
  • Help transition and qualify new materials, processes, and profile applications
  • Identify and implement process improvement concepts
  • Help to identify and assist with experiments aimed at reducing customer related concerns, improving process capability and tooling longevity
  • Help develop and train associates
  • Conduct and provide feedback where applicable for associates
  • Participate and support projects that are driven by business initiatives
  • Set-up and start-up any profile for all machines in a work cell
  • Tend to and operate machines in a work cell to produce required parts as determined by customer requirements and the production schedule
  • Perform maintenance tasks as necessary
  • Attend and participate in appropriate training and development program
  • Perform other duties across the plant as needed as directed by supervision or management
  • Assists crew lead and supervisor with the training and development of entry level and senior level operators

Qualifications

  • 2 year degree in Technology program or relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with profile extrusion
  • Strong prioritization and multi-tasking capability
  • Strong aptitude in problem solving and process improvement
  • Strong computer skills – Windows, MS Access, MS Excel
  • CAD experience preferred or willingness to get necessary training
  • Strong knowledge of AW quality systems; including NB quality system
  • Mastery of all skills and knowledge required of a Technician I
  • Equipment maintenance experience
  • Proven leadership skills; influence people and projects
  • Ability to articulate problems and solutions verbally
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and process procedures
  • Ability and skills to collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Self motivated and capable of managing stressful situations
  • Possess a working knowledge of statistical process control
