Safety Specialist

Assist EHS Manager and/or Plant Manager in providing assistance and administration for all facility safety programs

• Effectively influence plant safety program and improvement efforts
• Prepare safety alerts and promote safety awareness
• Maintain all location safety records and track incident corrective actions to completion
• Effectively influence plant safety program and improvement efforts

• Assist facility efforts in incident prevention, determining possible causes of incidents and serious injuries (as applicable per location)
• Assist EHS Manager and/or supervisors with incident investigations and track the completion of action items. Assist in incident investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective action development and follow-up for completion of action items
• Participate in EHS Reviews and Project
• Maintain safety programs developed by the EHS Manager that are compliant with all applicable requirements
• Participate on safety teams and support plant safety SPAs as needed
• Assist EHS Manager with training programs, both classroom and on-the-job training. Prepare and develop safety training materials and programs and conduct training
• Maintain a strong floor presence to assist associates with safety concepts and procedures (approximately 50% or more time on the plant floor)
• Administer and track plant behavioral based safety (BBS) observation program
• Manage location inspection and safety program
• Develop and maintain safety programs that are compliant with all applicable requirements
• Participate on safety teams and support plant safety SPAs as needed
• Maintain facility MSDS program
• Compile monthly production data for plant metrics
• Performs other duties as assigned

• High school graduate/GED required. Some college or business school coursework preferred
• Minimum of one year experience in a manufacturing office environment. Previous safety experience strongly preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Strong desire to learn and willing to tackle new challenges
• Broad understanding of plant operations and manufacturing processes
• Understanding of manufacturing problem solving
• Demonstrated competence in the application of safety and environmental policies and regulations
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
