Corporate Development Manager

The Manager of Corporate Development Manager will play a key role in the execution of M&A transactions including acquisitions, investments, joint ventures, divestitures, and other structures designed to create long-term shareholder value. This position will be part of a broader Corporate Development group that supports the long-term inorganic growth strategy across the enterprise and will be dedicated to either Cox Enterprises, Cox Communications or Cox Automotive. This position will be responsible for developing business cases, comprehensive presentations, financial models, valuation analyses and ad hoc data analyses to facilitate the evaluation, negotiation and execution of M&A transactions. Additionally, this position will manage cross-functional teams through all phases of the deal execution process and will support integration efforts. The ideal candidate will possess excellent quantitative and modeling skills, be a self-starter and demonstrate strong business acumen. The ideal candidate will have M&A transaction experience through relevant experience in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, consulting and/or transaction advisory services.

Position Responsibilities:


  • Play a critical role in executing a wide variety of M&A transactions across a broad set of industry sectors.
  • Support all aspects of M&A deal execution including developing investment theses, sourcing actionable transactions, creating financial and valuation analyses, leading due diligence, and post close execution.
  • Lead all aspects of quantitative analyses including the development of comprehensive valuation (such as DCF, LBO analysis, comparable company and comparable precedent transactions) and transaction structure models.
  • Identify, screen and evaluate pipeline opportunities while building relationships with target companies, the investment banking community and strategic partners.
  • Be a proactive and critical thought partner to senior leadership, especially with the Corporate Development, Corporate Strategy, Business Development, Legal, FP&A, Tax and Accounting teams.
  • Prepare presentations and memoranda for senior leadership throughout all phases of an M&A transaction.
  • Own the maintenance of existing industry transaction comps, trading comps and benchmarking analyses.
  • Monitor and reflect upon important, impactful external trends and developments.
  • Collaborate with peers across the enterprise to identify and adopt best practices.
  • Continuously learn from being exposed to deal sourcing, structuring, diligence, communication (internal/external), valuation and documentation that are integral aspects of all deal execution.



Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting and 4 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years' experience in a related field
  • Years of relevant experience can be inclusive of undergrad/grad work experience, internships, and apprenticeships
  • Demonstrated track record of consistent high-level achievement.
  • Strong executive presence and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with business acumen, good judgment, and common sense.
  • Passion for identifying opportunities and solving ambiguous problems.
  • Robust analytical, financial, valuation, quantitative and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent presentation and communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and project teams.
  • Able and willing to take initiative and work independently.
  • Ability to adapt to changing assignments and balance multiple and/or conflicting priorities.
  • Desire to excel in fast-paced, cross-functional, and results-oriented work environment.
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and ability to focus on "what matters".
  • Advanced excel and PowerPoint skills for financial modeling, data analysis, and presentation.
  • Travel up to 15%.
