The head office is in Copenhagen but the company operates on a remote-first basis, with plenty of opportunities for teams to get together in person.

Financial Controller Role

This role is a direct report into the CFO and is joining a small finance team consisting of the Head of Finance (FP&A), an analyst and CFO.  At present, all financial processing has been outsourced and so there should be minimal hands-on processing required but it is important that the person in this role has a thorough understanding of what is involved, so they are able to implement appropriate checks and reconciliations to ensure that any financial reporting is both accurate and timely.  

This role will be a senior player in the finance team and will input into the growth and development of a high performing Finance Function at Corti.  There is huge scope for personal and professional growth and development in this role.

The impact you’ll have:

Provide stakeholders with accurate and timely reporting and analysis so they have a greater understanding of financial performance

• Oversee and be involved in as necessary, all day-to-day accounting and accurate recording of all transactions, including approving any journals, reviewing accruals and prepayments, month end reconciliations, monthly payroll review and authorisation.

• Own the preparation of the monthly management accounts and investor reporting packages, developing the reporting further to support the evolution of the business.

• Working with the Head of Finance, develop other management reporting, KPI’s to increase understanding of business performance and support decision making.

• Work with budget holders to help understand and manage their budgets.  Input into the quarterly reforecasting and annual budgeting process.

Ensure Corti meets its financial compliance commitments

• Coordinate the preparation of any tax regulatory filings as necessary, liaising with external parties such as accountants and tax authorities.

• Work with the CFO in preparing annual financial statements and manage the annual financial audit, as well as other regulatory audits that may be required as appropriate

• Research technical accounting/taxation issues relevant to the business and report to the CFO on the impact.

Setting the foundations to support the Corti’s ambitious growth plans

• Revise and re-design processes, internal controls and compliance to adapt to our rapidly growing business.

• Automate business processes where and when possible to allow the finance team to focus on business decision support.

• Support and work closely with the CFO in fundraising processes, in equity and/or debt financing.

• Recruit, manage and develop other members of the finance team as appropriate.

What you’ll bring:

• An accountancy qualification, either ACA, ACCA or CIMA (ACA preferred)

• 2 to 3 years post qualified experience of working in the finance team of a small or medium sized organisation - preferably a high growth start-up.

• Self motivated with a passion for doing an excellent job and driving continuous improvement.

• Organisation and diligence, with a good eye for detail.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing.

• Ability to quickly build rapport with others and build strong professional relationships.

• Technical savviness and an ability to quickly pick up new software and applications; very good Excel skills.

• Experience of development of processes, implementation of appropriate software, and automation where possible
