Director of Payroll Job Description Director of Payroll Overview: CoStar Group is currently seeking a Director of Payroll in our Washington, DC office to manage the ongoing operations and execution of the company's payroll department. Reporting to the Vice President Treasury, the Director of Payroll will provide strategic and operational leadership and serve as a strategic partner responsible for... the design, implementation, administration, and communication of the Company's Payroll program. The incumbent should possess an in-depth knowledge of US/Canada payroll/payrolltax laws, compliance, regulations, and requirements relative to the accurate delivery of services for large employee populations (2,500 and above). The incumbent should be a skilled communicator, both in verbal and written form, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and possess the ability to manage competing priorities with time sensitive deadlines. The ability to provide excellent customer service in an accurate, professional, and timely manner should be paramount. Responsibilities: Designs, evaluates, develops, recommends, and implements short-term and long-term payroll policies, processes, and system enhancements designed to improve business processes for accuracy and efficiencies within the department Provide pro-active leadership to the teams by maintaining and improving payroll practices and related information management. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and provincial wage and hour laws, as well as collective bargaining agreements. Partner with various internal departments including Finance/Controllership, HRIS, Operations, Human Resources, IT, and Legal, and manage external payroll service vendor relationships (Workday, ADP, TMF). Ensure process documentation, standard operating procedures, and SOX documents are maintained and current at all times. Engages in various audits, including meeting with third party auditors, developing strategies, and preparing documentation. Lead strategy and execution of payroll objectives Responsible for payroll operations Manages a payroll team Coordinates with other finance teams, including global payroll, and Human Resources BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree and at least 10 years of payroll management experience with a history of increasing responsibility in a dynamic environment. Workday Payroll experience CPP or FPC certification a plus Public Company (SOX 404 experience) required Strong working knowledge of current payroll practices and trends. Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills. Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels within the organization including executives. Demonstrated ability to resolve issues using active listening, good judgment and problem solving skills. Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all matters. Proactive team member with strong customer service orientation, excellent attention to detail and follow through. Ability to manage in a matrix environment Proven ability to work in a large, fast-paced environment and the ability to prioritize activities and effectively manage time and tasks.
