Senior Video Producer

OverviewThe Council on Foreign Relations seeks a creative video production professional to join our award-winning video team. Reporting to the Director of Video, the Senior Video Producer will produce a wide range of video products, series, and initiatives for the Council’s website and its various distribution channels.The candidate will have demonstrated experience writing, producing, and editing visually compelling video explainers rich in graphics, short form documentaries, virtual shorts for social platforms, and animated graphics. Strong background in video editing and motion graphic production is required. Must have a passion for visual storytelling and a love of collaborative problem-solving.The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):• Produce and edit various video products (such as social video explainers, short-form documentaries) for distribution on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and X(Twitter).• Collaborate with fellow staff members, including writers, editors, and Council experts, to create engaging video stories.• Use the video medium to explain foreign policy concepts and ideas to a wider audience with evocative imagery and motion graphics.• Research photo and footage needs, and work with vendors to negotiate licensing terms.• Write and edit scripts, interview questions, and substantive outlines.• Facilitate in-studio on-camera appearances and conduct interviews.• Manage daily production schedule, track, and communicate deliverables to the Director of Video, colleagues, and senior leadership.• Regularly work with in-house A/V professionals and external vendors.• Maintain awareness of video trends and competitive landscape, including best practices, video SEO, successful engagement campaigns, and emerging social platforms.Qualifications• At least five years of experience editing and producing video products.• BA in film and TV production, journalism or a related field; advanced degree a plus.• Experience designing motion graphics or animation for video productions.• Experience writing and/or editing scripts for video and conducting interviews.• Experience working in a deadline-driven newsroom environment, sometimes outside of business hours if needed.• Must be able to synthesize complicated ideas/stories into understandable short form video products.• Strong familiarity with international affairs and foreign news coverage.• Ability to collaborate with a diverse team and manage cross-departmental needs.• Mastery of Adobe Premiere and After Effects.• Proficiency with the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite including Audition, Photoshop, and Illustrator.Please include a link to a portfolio or samples of your best work.Pay Range$85,000 to $100,000 per yearPay commensurate with experience and educationAbout CFRFounded in 1921, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is a leading nonprofit membership organization, research center, and publisher, with headquarters in New York, an office in Washington, DC, and programs nationwide.
