This is an entry-level professional opportunity ideal for persons who are interested in seeking a fulfilling career with the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District (SDAPCD). Click San Diego County Air Pollution Control District to obtain additional information on this department.An Air Quality Inspector I is responsible for inspecting air pollution sources to ensure compliance with SDAPCD rules, EPA laws, and State of California laws. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form, ability to be customer-focused and teamwork-oriented and possess the drive to excel.Hiring Timeline & Dates• Job Offer and Background Process begins in January 2025. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.• Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.• Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.If you are not selected for this interview process, you may have the opportunity to compete for future vacancies.Minimum Qualifications1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in chemistry, physics, engineering, environmental health, environmental science, biology or a closely related scientific field; OR;2. Four (4) years of paid professional, para-professional, or technical work experience with a regulatory agency, environmental agency, environmental consulting company, or other closely related agency, company, or organization; OR;3. An equivalent combination of college education and/or experience as stated above.NOTE: Applicants are required to submit college or university diplomas, unofficial or official transcripts, letters of verification, or foreign studies equivalency certificates (college education obtained outside of the US) during Step 1 of the online application submittal process.
