The County of San Diego is hiring for Departmental Human Resources Officer.Interviews will take place beginning the week of October 14, 2024 and job offers will be made shortly after interviews are complete.Some positions may have a teleworking and flexible schedule available after an initial training period and as special work projects permit.In collaboration with the County's central Department of Human Resources, Departmental Human Resources Officer's (DHRO) assist in the administration of human resources management programs for a department or agency. The County of San Diego has departments of different sizes which allows this role to either specialize or be more generalized.Departmental Human Resources Officers coordinate selection, hiring, and onboarding of departmental staff, work with the Department of Human Resources to develop recruitment and outreach strategies to attract quality candidates, advise departmental managers on various human resources matters, conduct investigations, and implement County-wide human resources policies. Duties may also include supervising professional, paraprofessional and/or clerical staff.Please click here for the complete Departmental Human Resources Officer job description.The ideal candidate will:• Demonstrate thorough knowledge and a solid understanding of the concepts of Diversity and Inclusion; and the ability to embrace, incorporate, and promote these concepts during the course of work• Demonstrate thorough knowledge and a solid understanding of Human Resources policies and procedures• Have the ability to be self-motivated and work independently under minimal supervision and guidance• Have the ability to communicate and interact effectively with staff, managers, and individuals outside of the department at all levels of the organization; and ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form• Have the ability to demonstrate a high degree of organizational and multi-tasking skills• Have the ability to practice organizational acumen at all times• Have the ability to promote safe and healthy practices to departmental employees who work in a variety of settings and environments, including offices, laboratories, repair shops, medical/health facilities, and outdoor settings• Demonstrate thorough knowledge and understanding of hiring and recruitment techniques• Have the ability to assist and advise department staff on best hiring and recruitment practicesHIRING TIMELINE AND DATESThe timeline for this recruitment is outlined below:• Interviews, Job Offers and Background Process begin shortly after the recruitment closes. (Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.)• Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.• Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.Candidates who are not selected will have the opportunity to compete for future vacancies.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSA bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency; AND, three (3) years of professional human resources experience.Note: A master's or doctoral degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or a certified foreign studies equivalency may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience; OR, additional years of experience as described above may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.The Department of Human Resources removes personally identifiable information from all recruitments.
