The County of San Diego is currently seeking qualified candidates for:
Sheriff's Operations Supervisor - Detentions Option - Promotional
Sheriff's Operations Supervisors are second-level supervisors who organize, direct, and coordinate inmate/ward processing operations and formulate and implement required policies and procedures. For more information about this job classification, CLICK HERE.
Desirable candidates possess strong leadership and management traits and skills, are able to communicate effectively, and are able to manage a facility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Four (4) years of progressively responsible clerical supervisory/administrative support experience in a detention facility setting equivalent to a Supervising Office Assistant in the County of San Diego, OR
• Two (2) years of experience in a detention facility setting equivalent to a Detention Processing Supervisor in the County of San Diego.
NOTE: Must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Felony convictions will be disqualifying. Misdemeanor convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency. Prior to appointment, candidates will be subject to a thorough background investigation which may include a psychological, polygraph or other examination or test.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position.

Hiring Process and Timeline
The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.
• Interviews, Job Offers and Background Process begin shortly after the interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
• Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

EVALUATION:Qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment and supplemental application.
