As a remote-first company, our interviews and onboarding are entirely virtual, providing a smooth and efficient experience for our candidates.Job Overview:The Coursera Design & Research team is seeking a Product Designer with visual UI or motion expertise to conceptualize world class visual experiences that elevate our product’s look and feel, bring delight to everyday interactions, differentiate our product and advance a cohesive vision for the future.You will work closely with a team of product, brand and system designers across our organization to develop new product features, evolve design patterns and bring our brand to life through the in-product experience across web and mobile.The experience of learning and transformation is inherently challenging. Your work as a designer will be to create simplicity from complexity, influencing everything from the most micro-interaction to the iconic patterns that shape the look and feel of the platform. If we do our jobs right we will not only make education radically accessible to learners across the globe, but in the process, create a new standard of excellence for the category of online learning – we need extraordinary designers to realize this goal.Responsibilities:• Lead high priority visual design projects that reflect the Coursera brand strategy and product vision and require a high level of craft for the Coursera learner experience.• Contributes to product vision through a visual design lens in collaboration with cross-disciplinary design peers• Work through design problems from beginning to end, translating research insights and high-level concepts into ideas that form delightful user experiences, then designing the workflows, visual design, and detailed interactions to execute them.• Work through the initial ambiguous phases of the product design process, mapping business + customer needs to help define the vision and strategy for a new direction.• Partner with product managers, engineers, data scientists, content strategists, and researchers to create products from initial definition to shipping and beyond.• Drive elegant design solutions from early concept through final implementation and iteration• Partner with the Brand and Creative team to coordinate on the role of color, typography, imagery, iconography, illustrations, etc in our product, bringing a UX lens to adapting our brand system to the in-product experience, filling in gaps where necessary.Basic Qualifications:• 5+ years experience as a hybrid UI / UX Designer (User-Interface / User- Experience), with strong Visual Design, or Motion Design specialization• Demonstrated experience designing best in class UI, motion & interaction experiences across mobile and webPreferred Qualifications:• Brings a systems thinking approach to visual design; experience designing UI / UX that is scalable, accessible, responsive and contributes to a design pattern library or system• Experience working in consumer facing experiences inside a global, digital product organization• Able to utilize effective communication and collaboration strategies with cross-functional partners; including PMs, engineering, other designers, and execs in evolving design proposals.• Able to consider and rationalize the technical difficulty of different designs, finding ways to test concepts as simply as possible.• Has the Core UX Design Skills required to facilitate design workshops, apply solution frameworks, create user flows, define IA, create wireframes, and create prototypes.• Experience with design and collaboration tools (eg: Figma, Miro, etc).If this opportunity interests you, you might like these courses on Coursera:• Leading Teams• Design Thinking for the Greater Good• Design Led StrategyOur job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base pay for this role is between $143,055 and $180,234. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
