Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.Job DescriptionThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a leading metro news organization with a rich journalism history, seeks a Growth Marketing Manager, Retention & Engagement.The AJC’s mission is to be the most essential and engaging source of news and information for the people of Atlanta, of Georgia, and the South., To achieve that mission, we will transform ourselves from a storied daily newspaper into a modern media company.As the Growth Marketing Manager, Retention & Engagement, you will help build a best-in-class engagement engine, focusing on optimizing the subscriber lifecycle journey and driving our retention marketing initiatives. In this role, you will lead the crafting and execution of lifecycle marketing strategies, owning the strategic communications roadmap, and leveraging audience segmentation and data analysis to enhance the customer experience across all touch points. This role offers a significant opportunity to shape the greater Growth Marketing organization at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, leveraging your skills and expertise to advance the AJC’s mission and vision through the transformative relationship we have with our subscribers.Please note: This person must be based in Atlanta, GA.In this position, you will:Lifecycle Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive lifecycle strategies (including, but not limited to: new subscriber onboarding, retention & engagement, loyalty/referral, renewal, and winback/resubscription) to increase subscriber retention, drive long-term customer lifetime value, and acquire new and former subscribers. Craft impactful and insightful creative, test, and product briefs to guide efficient development of necessary assets, test setup, and product marketing requirements. Serve as the Growth Marketing Team’s email channel expert with added focus on owned, in-product messaging capabilities (on-site and in-app).Experimentation & Optimization: Continually test and iterate on marketing strategies, messaging, and channels to identify optimal approaches for our audience. Separate signal from noise by employing A/B testing, multivariate testing, and other experimentation techniques to refine campaign performance and ultimately improve engagement and conversion rates.Cross-functional Collaboration & Customer-Centricity: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners across Product, Analytics & Research, Brand Marketing, Programming, Newsroom, Customer Care, and third-party partners/vendors to align on strategies, prioritize initiatives, and deliver seamless, customer-centric experiences that resonate with our audience and drive meaningful growth across key performance indicators.Audience Segmentation, Targeting, and Personalization: Utilize audience segmentation and data analysis to identify opportunities for targeted messaging, churn prevention, winback, and other personalized experiences across the customer lifecycle.Project Prioritization & Impact Assessment: Leverage a data-driven approach to identify, size, and prioritize projects based on their potential impact on key outcomes such as subscriber retention, lifetime value, and engagement metrics, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to drive sustainable growth.Qualifications:• Proven experience in growth marketing, retention marketing, or CRM within the digital subscription, direct-to-consumer or media industry• Expertise in developing and executing marketing campaigns across multiple channels (email, mobile app, social, etc.); proficiency in digital marketing tools, analytics platforms, and marketing automation tools. Experience with Iterable is a plus.• Deep understanding of customer lifecycle marketing, segmentation strategies, and personalized marketing tactics• Excellent communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills• A driven team-player, biased towards action; eager to get your hands dirty and drive projects through completion• Detail-oriented with the ability to juggle multiple projects at one time, prioritizing effectively• Adept problem-solver with a strong focus on innovation and continuous improvement• Enthusiastic about working in a dynamic, goal-oriented environment and constantly seeking opportunities to learn and growEducation:• A bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience, or MS plus 4 years of experience, or PhD plus 1 year of experience, OR 10 years experience with no degree.BenefitsThe Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company’s needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members.
