ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

The Knot is looking for a seasoned Creative Director, Editorial to join our Editorial Team to lead creative strategy and execution across our site, social networks and magazine. Reporting directly to our Head of Global Editorial, this hands-on role is suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, embraces innovation and inspires the team to create their best work. A visual storyteller, collaborator, and leader, this candidate will produce a variety of editorial content that elevates our brand identity and drives engagement across platforms. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Shapes the creative direction and strategy for Editorial across platforms, including the The Knot magazine
  • Manages all creative production, from design to photography to illustration, ensuring the work is exceptionally creative, aligned with our visual brand identity and developed with the audience top of mind
  • Identifies opportunities to build brand awareness through a 360 lens while maximizing output and working within a budget
  • Partners with Editors, Strategists, Video Producers and Social Media Managers on content ideation and creation with an emphasis on branding
  • Mentors and motivates the Visuals team, investing in their professional development and building their skill set
  • Fosters a culture of inclusivity, innovation and inspiration at work and throughout the work we do
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with stakeholders (Social, Product, Creative, Marketing) on brand initiatives

SUCCESSFUL CREATIVE DIRECTOR, EDITORIAL CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • 15+ years of experience working at a publisher, brand or media company
  • 10+ years of management experience
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates best-in-class creative direction across print and multi-platform
  • Experience motivating and directing a team of creatives to produce their best work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven history of partnering with Editorial and Social teams to create content that elevates the brand and engages the audience
  • Track record of managing multiple projects, ensuring efficient workflows, aggregating feedback and meeting deadlines
  • Deep working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign and K4
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills
  • Extremely detailed-oriented and calm under pressure
  • A passion for pushing creative boundaries and keeping your finger on the pulse, as it relates to design, photography (and wedding!) trends
