The Allowance for Credit team supports the Corporate Finance department by providing data to guide UMB’s reserve levels.
As the Credit Data Analyst, you will be responsible for assisting in the execution, reporting, re-calibration, review, automation, and documentation of all Allowance for Credit Loss (ACL) models. This associate will work with the ACL Team assisting in statistical analysis of datasets to identify trends, patterns and correlations that will provide deeper insight into the various loan portfolios. Applying forecasting techniques to ensure conceptual soundness of analytical approaches with supporting documentation. Build and support production and automation of the forecasting processes. This associate will work directly with the ACL Data Science team and senior and executive leadership from the Finance and Credit Administration.
How you will spend your time:
  • Assist with execution of the Commercial, Commercial Real Estate, Consumer, Credit Card Portfolio, and all other loan portfolios’ ACL models.
  • Build queries of data and write code to automate model processes.
  • Evaluate model risks and reaches conclusions on strengths and limitations of the models.
  • Communicate and help provide documentation with external and internal parties including external and internal audit, regulators, model risk management, and ad hoc reporting requests from various lines of business within the Bank.
  • Assist with the preparation of the ACL model methodology and support for statistical methods and assumptions.
  • Provide statistical reporting support to both the Chief Credit Officer and the Chief Credit Risk Officer.
  • Other duties as assigned.
We’re excited to talk to you if you:
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in Statistics/Applied Mathematics, Economics or Computer Science.
  • Have 3 years' experience in risk management processes, data management, model development/ validation, consulting, banking, or other financial services industry.
  • Or have any combination of education and experience that would provide an equivalent background.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in a programming language such as Python.
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Excel and SQL.
  • Exhibit excellent technical writing skills to produce effective reports.
  • Display excellent verbal communication skills to interact effectively with various stakeholders and regulators.
  • Enjoy working independently and under pressure.
  • Have an understanding & ability in working with internal “clients” in a service-oriented and value-add style.
  • Demonstrate project management abilities.
  • Have the ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment with a desire to learn and the ability to adapt.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge & understanding of financial theory and risk related models such as credit risk, market risk, operational risk, asset & liability management, PD/LGD/EAD estimation, and economic capital calculation.

Compensation Range:
Minimum: $87,570.00 - Mid Point: $125,055.00
