Employment Counsel

Credit Karma is looking for an experienced Employment Counsel who is passionate about all things employment. As Employment Counsel, you will proactively assess legal risks and advise on employment issues. You will work closely with other members of the Legal and People teams and leaders across the organization to effectively manage risk and help the company scale.

Skills

Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Ability to evaluate risk in light of business and practical considerations
Strong written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

Provide advice/counsel on a variety of employment topics such as performance management, leaves of absence, accommodations, wage and hour, DEI, internal investigations, reorganizations, redundancy and role eliminations
Assist in building out and maintaining a confidential, one-stop shop HR-Legal Hub with access to various resources
Develop and conduct training for employees, managers, and the People team
Advise on employment matters, both domestically and internationally, including state and federal compliance
Investigate and respond to claims, demand letters, administrative complaints, audits, and other employment-related inquiries
Draft and negotiate offer letters and employment-related agreements
Support resolution of federal, state and local agency claims and charges
Provide employment law support for mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures
Manage employment arbitrations and litigation
