Fraud Specialist

Credit Karma depends upon our users' trust.  We earn and maintain that trust by demonstrating our commitment to safeguarding their information.  The CK Money Risk and Payments team has the critical responsibility of protecting Credit Karma's members by securing our online processes and preventing online fraud and abuse throughout the Credit Karma product suite. 

What you'll do:

  • Acts as the prime fraud subject matter expert for complex fraud cases. Completes daily case assignments and workload distribution based on capacity and reach conclusions and take the appropriate risk mitigation action
  • Works escalated and complex fraud cases and breaks down escalated fraud cases, analyzes data and information to provide insights and recommendations. 
  • Identifies enablers and key issues prior to and during implementation, raises issues with stakeholders and offers solutions to resolve issues and risks. Analyzes process gaps, risk trends and anomalous behavior.  Identifies and implements mitigation actions and gap closure measures
  • Utilizes advanced SQL, spreadsheet (Excel) proficiency, and skills for the creation and management of risk data sets
  • Ability to create, manipulate and maintain data sets for risk analysis and identify fraud trends and take the appropriate action
  • Coach associates in their analysis and risk identification skills and monitors and manages dispute queues to ensure compliance deadlines are met. Partners with onshore and offshore analyst to manage case distribution and workload assignments

What we are looking for:

  • 2+ years of experience in data management, possession of advanced SQL and/or Python skills
  • 5+ years at a regulated financial institution
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical work experience

  • Strong knowledge of the fraud management life cycle and industry trends.
  • Problem solving mindset for building fraud solutions across multiple disciplines
  • Mentors others on the team to help close gaps in performance that have been identified  
  • Deep knowledge fraud typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
  • Have broad knowledge of project management and business process reengineering.

Pay Transparency Notice: Credit Karma’s mission of championing financial progress for all starts from within. That’s why we implemented role-based compensation, which ensures people who are in the same role receive the same pay with variations for geographic location only. It’s all part of a more comprehensive DEI strategy that helps level the playing field. The base salary range for this role is $108,487 plus equity and benefits.
