Overview:

The Credit Officer will be responsible for providing direct support to the Deputy Chief Credit Officer (DCCO) for East West Bank’s Commercial & Industrial (C&I) loan portfolio, specifically the Structured Finance and Private Equity portfolios. The Credit Officer will assist the DCCO with: the analysis of new transactions; the renewal and modification of existing transactions; financial data analysis; cash flow modeling and scenario analysis; legal documentation review; and the monitoring and surveillance of the structured finance and private equity portfolios. The Credit Officer will also assist the DCCO with credit committee presentations, credit policy documentation, and other ad-hoc research projects as needed.

This position will support the continued expansion of East West Bank’s Structured Finance and Private Equity businesses nationwide. It will be based in New York and will report directly to the DCCO. This role represents a superb opportunity for the right candidate to put their credit skills and expertise to work in a dynamic and highly visible environment supporting two of the most prominent business groups in the Bank

Responsibilities:
  • Gather/organize appropriate financial data necessary for the analysis of structured finance and private equity transactions.
  • Develop supporting charts/tables/graphs with financial data.
  • Use asset performance history data to develop loss expectations for various asset classes.
  • Use loss expectations and other deal/structure assumptions to appropriately cash flow model transactions.
  • Perform financial analysis to determine credit quality of originators/servicers.
  • Review legal documentation to ensure that transactions are documented accurately.
  • Review credit underwriting memos and assist the SVP with credit approvals and presentations to Credit Committee.
  • Assist the SVP with the ongoing monitoring and surveillance of transactions.
  • Perform ad-hoc industry and asset class research as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, accounting, math, statistics, or any quantitative discipline preferred.
  • 5 to 7 years work experience preferred, but strong performers with 3+ years in structured finance will also be considered.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills mandatory, including the ability to work with PivotTables and various financial and statistical functions.
  • Excellent written skills are a must.
  • Ability to learn quickly, absorb complex information, think logically, and identify pertinent trends, risks and mitigants is critical.
  • Must be inquisitive, proactive, detail oriented, and self-starting.
  • Must be comfortable working in an unstructured environment.
  • Experience in asset-backed finance, structured credit, and/or private equity a must
Compensation: The base pay range for this position is USD $65,000.00/Yr. - USD $190,000.00/Yr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
