Playa Bowls NYC is hiring Team Members for our 14 locations.

Who We Are: Playa Bowls is New Jersey’s Original Acai Shop™, and our mission is to bring superfruit bowls to the masses using only the freshest, highest quality ingredients while providing a fantastic in-store brand experience. Who You Are: Our dynamic company is looking for a friendly, reliable, and skilled crew member to join our team. Your main responsibility will be to help us achieve our goals and targets by delivering consistent products in accordance with Playa Bowls' recipes. You will assist customers in selecting their superfoods, answer their questions about products and allergens, follow checklists, work collaboratively with co-workers and management, complete daily tasks like opening and closing duties, daily deep-cleaning, and comply with DOH food and safety regulations and security regulations.

The successful candidate should be passionate about customer service, thrive in a fast-paced environment, physically fit, have excellent time management skills, know how to navigate NYC public transit and plan for any potential delays, and be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.

What You’ll Do:

• Arrive for your shift on time
• Must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, reaching, pulling, squatting, climbing up and down ladders and stairs, and lifting products over 50 pounds. Additionally, must be able to use your arm/wrist/shoulder to scoop and dig frozen products and prepare all food items and must be able to stand for long periods or up to 8 hours. Must be able to work in tight spaces alongside other employees
• Respond to questions, concerns, and complaints from customers, vendors, or clients
• Escalate any problems or complaints to the relevant supervisor or manager
• Work and communicate effectively and RESPECTFULLY with co-workers and management at ALL TIMES
• Man and operate equipment relative to your role. These include but are not limited to blenders, juicers, POS systems, scooping frozen products
• Must have an NYC Food Handlers License or obtain one within the first 2 weeks of hire (Details provided upon hire)
• Must follow all Playa Bowls Recipes as written! Must be able to read and understand all Playa Bowls' recipes and read all tickets and customer modifications
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the store
• Assist with weekly deep cleaning schedules
• Be able to perform assigned tasks within the timeframe given and be able to work organized and efficiently when there is high traffic coming into our stores
• Manage time effectively and meet all job responsibilities
• Maintain a positive work environment for guests and staff
• Check products to ensure consistency, palatability, and flavor conformity
• Perform food preparation or service tasks
• Use point of sale cash register system
• Addressing any questions or comments that customers may have
• Take customer orders and assemble the orders
• Replenish supplies and condiments and maintain inventory
• Notifying staff of any food orders or food shortages
• Must be able to work at different locations throughout NYC
• Must have impeccable time management and know how to plan around any track-work changes in the NYC metro systems
• ***Must be able to work every weekend, day and night shift, with the ability to work as early as 5am and as late as 11:30pm, ALL PUBLIC holidays, various locations, and be able to commit to 30+ hours weekly- NO EXCEPTIONS***

Schedule:

• 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week (schedules can fluctuate to more or fewer hours/days based on the needs of the business)
• FULL Availability including weekends, day & night SHIFTS + All Public Holidays!!

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)
• Associates (Preferred)

Experience:

• Food service: 3 years (Required)
• Must have a minimum of 3 years experience: counter/fast-food/barista role strongly preferred
• Available to work full time
• Extremely organized in a high-volume atmosphere
• High energy and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
• Essential physical requirements of all in-store positions include; standing for long periods of time and moving items around, lifting 25 pound frozen tubs and other products, be able to go up and down stairs to access inventory, break room and and other essential job duties, climb ladders, breakdown boxes, lift and dispose large trash bags, scoop frozen products during each scheduled shift, work both in food prep and at POS, read tickets and communicate with team any modifications or allergens communicated by the customer, be able to work with high-allergen foods, sweep, mop,
• Food Handlers Certificate is a MUST!
