Vice President of Human Resources

The Vice President of Human Resources will report directly to the CEO and lead all aspects of organizational effectiveness and human capital for the organization.  Incumbent will serve as a HR business partner to the leadership team and provide leadership and guidance on HR matters.  He/She will be a hands-on leader responsible for creating and implementing programs that attract, retain and develop talent, build leaders and foster key cultural elements of the employer brand. This role requires a strong presence in the Edison, NJ headquarters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Planning:

  • Evaluate, develop and implement a HR strategy and associated plans to support the Company strategy for this rapidly growing business.
  • Provide a roadmap for organizational structure as the company continues to scale.

Systems, Policy and Compliance: 

  • Maintain and continue to evolve the functionality of the HRIS system.
  • Maintain knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, talent management and immigration.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and practices and evaluate for effectiveness.

Employee Relations:

  • Oversee and manage employee relations and the disciplinary action process in a union and non-union environment.

Recruiting:

  • Design, develop and lead a comprehensive strategic recruiting program to meet the needs of the Company’s growth strategy.
  • Support leadership in identifying top talent.

Onboarding:

  • Develop and implement an orientation program for all employees to provide an understanding of the business, organization, and culture.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are communicated clearly to new team members and onboarding documents are completed accurately.

Talent Management:

  • Collaborate with managers to plan, develop, and implement a learning and development plan to develop employees and build manager/leader effectiveness while meeting the needs of the changing workforce, inspiring employee and team engagement. 
  • Partner with functional leaders and provide programs supporting functional and technical skill building. Instill a career development mindset across the organization to attract and retain talent. 
  • In partnership with the executive team, lead and design the succession planning process to strengthen the overall capability and bench-building of the organization.
  • Work with the CEO to design and manage the performance management process.

Total Rewards:

  • Partner with the CEO and the leadership team to research, design, implement, and administer a comprehensive compensation and benefit strategy to support the company strategy.
  • Manage all aspects of the employee benefits program, including health and welfare plans, retirement plans, life insurance, time-off, wellness programs and any other employee benefit plans offered.

Team and Culture:

  • Manage and develop a team of 3-5 HR professionals.
  • Work with leadership team to provide advice and guidance on human resources issues.
  • Foster collaboration and practices that promote the acceptance and support of employees from different cultures and backgrounds, ultimately to improve employee engagement and retention.
  • Leverage qualitative and quantitative KPI metrics to measure and improve the effectiveness of HR programs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progression human resources experience in fast growth entrepreneurial organizations or private equity-backed companies preferred.
  • Proven track record of success across all areas of human resources.
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment in scaling and professionalizing an organization during a high growth period. 
  • Experience with geographically dispersed teams.
  • Willingness to “roll up one’s sleeves” to accomplish projects and day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence decisions quickly.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems, including ADP.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, including Excel and PowerPoint.
