The Opportunity The Director, reporting to the Head of the Technology Office, will play a key role in molding and executing strategies for our AI Platform while ensuring scalability, security, and goal congruence. The Role Technical Expertise • Gain hands-on experience in AI/ML by crafting and deploying models and algorithms using cutting-edge methodologies, frameworks, and systems. Employ adeptness in common programming languages and software collections to lead the way in AI project execution.• Expertise in AI platform and product utilization: engaged in developing, designing, or supervising AI architectures, covering cloud-centric selections like AWS, Azure, or Google, integrating diverse language models at varying volumes, whether openly accessible or proprietary.• Data engineering proficiency: Planning, constructing, and managing data pipelines, implementing data processing strategies, and supervising data storage solutions optimized for AI tasks.• Maximize the scalability of AI solutions by integrating software engineering best practices, such as following the software development lifecycle, leveraging DEVOPS practices, and employing robust testing methodologies.Leadership and Management• Strategic thinking encompasses the alignment of AI initiatives with overarching team objectives and the translation of these alignments into practical roadmaps.• Establish and lead AI teams, cultivating an environment that values originality and continuous growth.• Facilitate collaboration among various business units by involving stakeholders and leaders across different areas of expertise.• The responsibilities of project management include managing partnerships, delivering AI projects on schedule and within budget, and effectively handling available resources and risks.Strategic Vision• Be aware of the industry developments in AI technology to identify possible opportunities and threats.• Painting a picture with words: Illustrating the concepts of vision and journey through a compelling storyline.• Prioritizing innovation: Foster a culture of experimentation and exploration with new AI strategies for a competitive advantage.• Addressing ethical considerations in AI is paramount to promote responsible and just practices in the development and utilization of artificial intelligence systems.• Exploring the AI Champion, its potential, and the roadmap we are crafting with our partners.• Continuously educate yourself on the latest AI and machine learning advancements to remain knowledgeable.• Share elaborate AI principles with colleagues who lack technical expertise to promote knowledge, acceptance, and engagement.Vendor Management:• In charge of the legal ownership agreements for AI technology vendors.• Handle vendor connections while ensuring that service benchmarks and contractual obligations are satisfied.Financial Management:• Responsible for managing a budget of more than $10 million for an AI and cloud technology platformTeam Leadership:• Organize and lead a team of IT professionals for optimal results.• Promote an ethos that values inventive approaches, partnership, and continual development.Your Expertise and Qualifications• Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, mathematics, or an equivalent field• Individuals with a master's degree and relevant certifications are highly sought after• Demonstrating more than ten years of applicable background in IT roles• Demonstrable managerial expertise gained over a period exceeding four years.• Supervising IT projects in an international setting requires implementing effective risk management strategies tailored to different regions.• Having worked in a Pharma/Biotech or comparable regulated sector is a plus• Specialization in solution architecture, specifically in cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.• Involve and communicate with stakeholders of all types, regardless of their technical knowledge.• Proficient in executing cohesive roadmaps for cloud platforms.• Shown capability in managing LLM models successfully.• A background in both DevOps and ML/AI engineering is preferred.The expected base salary range for this position at hiring is $190,000 - $260,000. Please note this salary range reflects the minimum and maximum base pay that CSL expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base salary for a successful candidate is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors.
