Culinary Services Division (CSD), a division of Auxiliary Services, provides meals and specialty beverages for over 18,000 customers daily and is an integral part of campus life and the overall college experience. CSD proudly provides Montana State University students with not only a repertoire of various cuisines, cooking styles, and flavors, but a comfortable atmosphere to meet friends, study, and simply relax. The division is comprised of 2 residential dining halls, a commissary kitchen, 3 coffee shops and the Union Market retail operation, Brick Breeden Fieldhouse and Bobcat Stadium Concessions, Fork in the Road food truck, MSU Catering, Indulge In-House Bakery, and the Farm to Campus Program.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a member of the Culinary Services management team, the Custodial Supervisor II oversees and coordinates the custodial activities for all CSD buildings and spaces (Miller Dining Commons, Rendezvous Dining Pavilion, Indulge Bakery, Strand Union Retail, Brick Breeden Fieldhouse and Bobcat Stadium Concessions).
Oversees the work and activities of the custodial staff to ensure assignments are completed in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
Directly supervises (hires, schedules, trains etc) the custodial crew of 12 and is responsible for supervising up to 10-14 part-time and student/temporary staff.
Regularly collaborates with each areas General Manager to coordinate custodial efforts with food service efforts with the goal of providing excellent customer service for students and other guests.
Maintains and has a working knowledge of all equipment and infrastructure necessary to clean the food services spaces.
Maintains chemical and equipment inventory control and makes purchases as necessary.
Develops and implements standard operating procedures and conducts regular quality inspections.
Researches industry innovations and forecasts needs of facilities and users.
Troubleshoots and solves building/facility issues in coordination with area General Managers.
Primary liaison with MSU Grounds to coordinate a regular schedule for recycling pickups in each area as well as post-event recycling/trash collection.
Actively participates during set-up and tear-down during special events/dinners and meeting room set-ups and turn-a-rounds (primarily in Rendezvous Conference Room).
Performs a variety of administrative tasks in support of the department.
Works as part of the management team on short- and long-range planning.
And actively participates as part of the team while performing other duties in support of the department’s mission.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Substantial experience supervising custodial and/or light maintenance activities in commercial, institutional, food services facilities, or similar settings or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Progressively responsible experience training and supervising staff.
Proficient experience using computers and various software packages.
Demonstrated knowledge of safety procedures utilized while conducting custodial work.
Extensive customer service experience dealing effectively and diplomatically with a variety of people.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Certifications/Classes related to custodial, sanitation, building maintenance, etc.
Experience with inventory control.
Experience providing custodial services in a food service.

Must possess currently or be eligible to obtain a valid State of Montana Driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record (less than 12 points). Do NOT send a copy of the driver’s license. If the successful candidate possesses a valid out-of-state driver’s license, the candidate must obtain a valid Montana driver’s license within 60 days.
Will occasionally work outside and in inclement weather assisting with special events or shoveling snow at entrances.
Will work evenings, weekends, long hours, consecutive days during busy periods, and occasional holidays as the school and event schedule demands.

Regular exposure to cleaning solutions.
Routinely transport items weighing up to 50+ lbs., and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
Move about or traverse grounds and facilities for long periods of time.
Be able to position self in various positions to clean; grip handles on cleaning equipment; ascend/descend stairs and step ladders; and be comfortable working at heights.
Occasionally shovel snow.
