Description
- Receives and delivers mail from/to university departments.
- Sorts and places mail in proper boxes, or releases to approved department personnel.
- Processes mail including weighing outgoing mail parcels and applying proper postage.
- Performs receptionist duties such as greeting visitors, answering inquiries, screening telephone calls and routing incoming calls.
- Sells stamps and certifies mail.
- Uses recommended procedures for the safe and proper handling of letters and packages.
- Copies and collates office material.
- Assembles and files information by predetermined category.
- Operates various office machines such as typewriters, calculators, computers, etc.
- Enters data as required on computer terminal.
- Operates cash drawer and balances daily postage sales.
- Prepares itemized postage billing for each department.
- Makes postings to various departmental records and prepares reports involving tabulation of posted data and simple arithmetic calculations.
- Types postage vouchers and disseminates to business office for approval.
- Maintains equipment in good working order by coordinating service calls, as required.
- Tracks and recovers lost mail.
- Tracks damaged postage and prepares and sends credit form to post office.
- Substitutes in other areas of Administration.

Minimum Qualifications
- Working knowledge of the various software used by the print shop. · Competent with MicroSoft Office Suite · Good knowledge of basic arithmetic and making simple arithmetic calculations. · Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions. · Good knowledge of mail room practices and procedures, including operation of such equipment as stamp machine, scales, or metering machine. · Knowledge of proper telephone usage. · Ability to concentrate on detailed projects during numerous interruptions by telephone and walk-in inquirers. · Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. · Ability to exercise important human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with the university community.
