Inventory Management Contractor

Job Description: • Responsible for performing the physical or administrative tasks supporting the shipping, receiving, storing, and distribution of materials, parts, supplies and equipment, rejecting unsatisfactory items where necessary. • Within parameters, determines routing and arrangements for shipments, considering such factors as nature of items being shipped, method of handling, size... urgency, and cost. • Consults rate schedule for specific rates depending on method of shipment and distance shipped. • Assesses the most economical and efficient common or contract carrier, to transport shipments. • Calculates and records storage, redelivery, and other applicable charges. • May reroute urgent shipments of an urgent nature or arrange for special delivery at destination. • Prepares and maintains records of products shipped and tracks shipments. • Receives incoming materials, unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders or invoices. • Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated identifications. • Maintains records of received goods, processes freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents. • Stocks and distributes materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines. • Lifts heavy items and may operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks. • Knowledge of material handling procedures and Environmental Health and Safety requirements. • Developing support for individual contributors. • Works under general supervision. • Work is less structured within identified boundaries and procedures. • Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations. • Nature of Supervision: • Works under general supervision. • Less detailed instructions are provided and moderate peer review is required. • Communication and Influence: • Communicates with contacts typically within the team on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement. Innovation and Complexity: • Work is less structured within identified boundaries and procedures. • Follow established processes to complete tasks. • Escalates issues to supervisor for resolution. Organisation Impact: • Works to achieve operational targets within the job area which has minimal impact on the overall achievement of results for the team. Work is of limited scope, typically on smaller, routine task-related activities. Education and Experience: • Requires fully proficient job knowledge/skills. • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Must Haves: • Computer skills. • Experience packing. • Some MRP Experience. • 6 years Experience + High School or 2years college/2 years experience.
