About the Opportunity
Summary
The Data Analyst will turn data into information, information into insight, and insight into business decisions. The Data Analyst will conduct full lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities and design, develop analysis and reporting capabilities, and monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Drawing from both internal and external data sources, prepare data analyses that inform and respond to information needs.
Coordinate, compile, and retrieve data
Extract and present data from university data systems to support reporting
Identify and recommend technical solutions that help enhance work done in the department.
Suggest tools, procedures, and strategies that will improve the technical capacity and sophistication of the unit
Develop a system to receive and track ad hoc analysis/reporting inquiries from college faculty and staff and utilize the information from the ad hoc requests to develop new standardized reports
Qualifications
Strong analytical skills with the ability to discern key information from large data sets and make actionable recommendations. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Experience using various databases such as but not limited to Cognos, Banner, Tableau Prep and Tableau to develop custom dashboards. Ability and desire to learn new reporting systems. Excellent data visualization and report preparation skills. Must be detail oriented, organized, and willing to work with others to maintain and improve upon the quality of reporting. Knowledge and skills are normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree with a focus on data analytics is preferred. One to three years of experience in a higher education setting preferred. SQL and Python experience is a plus.
