Chemonics International is seeking a Data Analytics and Reporting Sr. Specialist. The Sr. Specialist will work closely with Finance and Accounting (F&A) leadership and Financial Planning and Analysis in developing, designing, and deploying actionable reports, dashboards and other presentation formats that align with our strategic objectives. The Sr. Specialist will analyze a variety of reporting challenges while collaborating with stakeholders across the company, leveraging different tools, data sources and systems to best utilize enterprise-wide data and translate it into actionable insights to enhance use of financial data and facilitate data driven decision-making across the company. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with key stakeholders across the company and specifically F&A to create key reports to aid in corporate financial management, accounting, and reporting by developing, designing, and enhancing custom SQL, Power BI, Excel, Paginated Report Builder and other types of reports
  • Uses a combination of data and reporting tools, experience, and extensive knowledge of Finance and Accounting to analyze data and produce informative and practical reports and dashboards
  • Interprets data to discover solutions and opportunities; analyzes workflow and process data to determine internal areas of improvement within daily F&A tasks
  • Performs exploratory data analysis and builds report prototypes. Prepares agenda and leads meetings to understand complex reporting issues and elicit reporting requirements from various teams and departments and develops design documentation supporting those requirements
  • Extracts data from a variety of sources to develop and submit recurring quarterly, annual, and other government census reports
  • Works with the IT team to create, update, and maintain data model entities and relationships to support creation and maintenance of reports
  • Works with the IT team to incorporate system/database updates and new technologies into the report development environment
  • Conducts in-depth data validation on reports and other data outputs to confirm data integrity
  • Manages projects and processes related to auditing, government, and client-required submissions
  • Evaluates existing financial processes to determine how reporting output can be created/modified to improve inefficiencies and speed processing
  • Organizes and maintains folders, files, reference material and the whole of the report development structure
  • Responsible for extending knowledge and supporting teammates and new hires in report design, development, and overall implementation
  • Serves as liaison between the Finance & Accounting, IT, Human Resources, and other divisions on issues related to process improvement, data integrity, data availability and testing
  • Provides report development guidance and support to other teams within and outside of Finance & Accounting
  • Participates in the development of the department’s strategic plans, training materials, and tools
  • Serves as a domain expert and provides expertise and guidance on systems and platform capabilities not readily apparent to users
  • Develops trainings, brown-bags, and other capacity-building initiatives for staff focused on data and analytics
  • Keeps current with technical data and reporting skills and industry developments
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and finance principles including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, etc. and in-depth experience validating and working with related data
  • Expert experience with Excel including pivot tables, xlookup, complex formulas, VBA, etc
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, DAX, TM1, SSRS and programming languages (i.e., Java/Python, SAS) preferred with an emphasis on Power BI
  • Experience with SQL-based accounting systems, Microsoft Dynamics AX/D365, and/or Oracle Cloud preferred
  • Familiarity with star schema database structures preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating complex data in a simple, actionable ways
  • Understanding of tabular data model principles and experience modifying such models
  • Experience with dashboard management, data visualization and data-informed insights
  • Strong experience testing reports and validating data inputs to ensure accurate and high-quality reports and dashboards
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving attitude
  • Ability to solve technical and operational challenges with the aid of data, experience, and knowledge
  • Strong organizational and work prioritization skills, and ability to focus and pay attention to details
  • Collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strong initiative and proactive mindset to take charge of projects and see through to successful completion
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to learn rapidly on-the-job

The Salary Range for this position is expected to be: $96,960 - $121,200.

An employee’s pay position will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.
