Position Specific Responsibilities
Talk about going down a rabbit hole, data analytics, queries & reporting can get you there quicker than Alice was following that rabbit!
Now we’re not saying we’re all mad here but we are looking for someone that’s just mad about data & has determination for these things & pursuing our needs to add more structure. Our team gets to use some of the latest tech/tools to harvest data, run reports, upload & deliver details across the university. They have worked tirelessly over the years to have clean data sets & now need someone experienced in the field to keep building structure & be more robust. Like Alice you won’t get bored, you’ll be multi-tasking & problem solving both with the data as well as using the resources at hand. Summary of Responsibilities

Responsible for overall design of the enterprise-wide data information architecture, which maps to the enterprise architecture and balances the need for access against security and performance requirements.



Essential Functions

Defines data and information architecture standards, policies and procedures for the University, structure, attributes, and nomenclature of data elements and applies accepted data content standards to technology projects.
Facilitates consistent business analysis, data acquisition, and access analysis and design.
Performs database management systems optimization, archiving and recovery strategy, load strategy design and implementation, security and change management at the enterprise level.
Translates strategic requirements into a usable enterprise information architecture, which may include an enterprise data model, associated metamodel, common business vocabulary, ontologies and taxonomies to be used to guide enterprise solution development and achieve consistency of information assets across the application portfolio.
Develops a metadata management strategy to manage all enterprise information architecture project artifacts.
Ensures existing data and information assets are identified, stewarded, and leveraged across the enterprise.

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent by hire date



Preferred Education

Minimum Experience

Six (6) years of experience in data architecture. Every 30 hours of college coursework can be substituted for one (1) year of experience.



Preferred Experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Well versed in development and application of relational databases, e.g. Oracle and SQL Server relational databases.
  • Well versed in design, development and application of data warehouse concepts.
  • Deep knowledge with and application of ETL Tools, e.g. Informatica, SSIS, DataStage.
  • Well versed in development and application of reporting tools, e.g. Cognos, Tableau, PowerBI.
  • Applied knowledge of SQL query writing skills.
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
