Data Engineer (ETL) - job 1 of 3

PURPOSE

Worldwide Express/GlobalTranz is looking for an experienced ETL Developer to join our Data Warehousing initiative. We already have cloud native data warehouses running built on technologies like Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Microsoft SQL Server. Improving our analytical capabilities is a key element of our technology strategy and ETL development is the foundation of that success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understand relational database and data warehousing modeling and architecture best practices
• Build ETL/ELT applications using Azure Data Factory or SSIS
• Follow established design and quality standards for applications, database models and SQL programming
• Follow existing process for Agile work management and software development release cycle
• Participate in improving all processes and standards
• Prioritize and manage work, adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
• Self-starter that is able to collaborate actively with others in a cross-functional team or work independently

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• MS/Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems or a related field; or equivalent work experience
• 5 years of SQL Programming experience is required
• 3 years of ETL/ELT development using Azure Data Factory, SQL Server Data Tools, Microsoft SSIS, and/or Kinesis/Flink
• Experience developing data warehouses, data marts and/or data lakes with a medium-to-large scope and complexity
• Previous experience with Azure Synapse is helpful and preferred
• Experience performing data exploration exercises to map business requirements to the appropriate transactional database equivalents
• Experience with agile development methodologies (SCRUM or Kanban)
• Previous experience in the Logistics and Transportation Industry is helpful and preferred
