Position Purpose
Under general management, RLI is seeking an energetic and collaborative Data Engineer responsible for the design, development, testing, and integration of data pipelines and curated data assets within our enterprise data platform to serve our analytics and reporting needs. You must follow industry best practices for data governance, security and quality, stay current on the latest innovations, and be comfortable working with on-prem and cloud technologies. This person will report to the Director, Technology within our Data & Analytics practice.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Designs and builds data pipelines: Create, maintain, and optimize workloads from development to production.
Responsible for the accessibility and reliability of organizations data, conforming to RLI security standards and practices .
Understands data classification, lifecycle and protective processes to ensure extensible, scalable, reliable and secure transfers of data.
Executes analysis and remediation of root causes, including deficiencies in technology, process, or resource capabilities.
Develops and enforces RLI and industry best practices for data integration and data quality.
Performs coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the development process.
Continuously deploys software by automating integration, test, and deployment of code.
Works in agile delivery model alongside data architects, product management, data analysts, and other developers.
Education & Experience
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field
4+ years of relevant experience
[OR] equivalent level of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies
Experience with Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services moving large data sets to Azure or AWS from on-prem and other cloud solutions.
Experience working with structured and unstructured data and big data cloud platforms including Snowflake, MongoDB, BigQuery, etc.
Working knowledge in SQL.
Technical understanding of data modeling, integration, architecture, virtualization, warehousing, transformations and quality techniques within Informatica IICS or IDMC.
Working knowledge of Git repositories (bitbucket, GitHub), CI/CD (Jenkins, Azure DevOps) and software development tools.
Basic experience in working with data governance and data security in moving data pipelines into production.
Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
Effectively communicates, verbally and written, findings and recommendations within a distributed operating environment.
Experience working with onshore and offshore development teams with strong listening and interpretation skills.
Must be highly adaptable, resolve ambiguity, and demonstrate intellectual curiosity.
Adept in agile methodologies.
