Data Scientist, Analytics (Revenue & Forecasting)

Next Insurance is a fast-growing tech company based in Silicon Valley that is led by a team of experienced entrepreneurs with a history of successful outcomes. Our mission is to transform insurance for small businesses by combining world-class technology and phenomenal customer service to offer better insurance at a lower price. As the leading digital insurtech company transforming small business insurance, we are proud to have achieved a company valuation of $4 billion and total funding raised to more than $880 million!

Next Insurance is looking for explorers who are filled with curiosity, have the desire to travel the unbeaten path, and realize new heights in providing small business owners with the peace of mind to run their businesses. If you move fast, and are customer-focused and willing to challenge the status quo, Next Insurance might just be your next journey.

Want to shape the future of insurance through data science? We are looking for a Data Scientist to join the growing data org that has a dedication to diving into data and thinking analytically about the health of growth and financial metrics. The ideal candidate is excited to develop a thoughtful metrics framework, define and own company-level metrics, as well as influence the stakeholders and the entire company's strategy. If you have the passion for making an impact, the intuition to identify critical analytical questions, the technical ability for complex deep-dives, and the communication skills to help the team turn ideas into action - you belong here!

What You'll Do:

  • Work with cross-functional teams including finance, corporate strategy, product and marketing to define their strategic direction, then design the right metrics and targets to measure their progress
  • Identify, size, and prioritize opportunities pertaining to profitability, lifetime value, and user experience
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the customers, product, and strategy; with emphasis on product analytics, experiments and success metrics, and first-principles approaches to problem-solving
  • Partner with product managers, engineer leaders, and data engineering to design the right data models, logging, and data-pipeline foundations
  • Create clear, compelling, and actionable insights based on data for key metrics including, but not limited to, customer retention, lifetime value, and customer acquisition cost
  • Design experiments and causal analyses to inform product decisions
  • Develop dashboards to track metric progress against objectives, understand metric drivers, and help business stakeholders make data-informed decisions

What We Need:

  • Professional experience in a quantitative analysis role (experience working with FP&A or revenue team is a plus)
  • Ability to define the appropriate metric framework to empower the data-driven decision making process
  • Experience with experiment design, implementation, analysis, and recommendation for actionable insights
  • Understanding of FP&A reporting and forecasting as it relates to revenue and sales growth: customer retention, lifetime value, and other financial metrics
  • Experience with statistical analysis such as causal inference and regressions is a plus
  • Experience influencing product, engineer, FP&A, and corporate strategy team by providing accurate insights
  • Fluent in SQL and some experience with a programming language like Python a plus
  • Experience building clear and easy to understand dashboards
  • Ability to communicate effectively to cross functional partners of varying technical levels
  • BA/BS degree

Unstoppable Qualities:

  • Experience designing experiments, with knowledge of statistics a plus
  • Experience looking at above-the-line media/marketing data; working with agencies is a plus
