This is an exciting opportunity to come and work in a company that develops many solutions that involve databases at their core. The candidate should have a strong track record of leadership and influence. This individual will be driving the database support for the company’s online and batch systems which are critical for delivering business results. Candidate must have demonstrated not only an ability to lead and motivate a team of direct reports, but also have an ability to drive change across a broader organization. Candidate will be responsible for team mentoring, training, forecasting and goal setting for the staff.
What you’ll be doing
Provide leadership and direction to a team of distributed database administrators located in various offices around the globe
Mentor team members in technical aspects
Contribute to design and best practice conversations with application developers and product owners
Lead team transition to agile methodologies and sustainable practice
Lead transition of database services to cloud methodologies in both on-premise and public cloud environments
Support and inform database aspects of workload migrations to cloud
Respond to database issues and inform management. Follow through and establish permanent fixes
Prioritize the teams’ efforts to meet product and project schedules
Develop and manage both long and short-term goals for department and staff
Manage resources to ensure departmental growth and objectives are met
Help develop and execute the department roadmaps
Create and enforce policies and standards
Create, track and update project schedule, communicate project status to the team members and to management
Resolve complex problems that have implications beyond your own functional domain.
Apply best practices in database security & database design
5+ years of leading high performance database administration team(s)
8+ years of experience with distributed database systems
An overall understanding of database support, including a mastery of a wide range of database architectures for 24/7 transactional and batch systems for on prem and cloud-based Database systems.
Prior experience with administering high availability large scale distributed and cloud-based database systems is expected.
Hands on experience of MS SQL Server
Hands on experience of MongoDB
Demonstrated software development experience with a focus on database integration
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling in relation to databases, such as Terraform
Prior experience in cloud migration of databases
Other open-source databases experience strongly desired
A passion for delivering great products and experiences to customers
Experience with data modeling tool a plus
High energy, confidence, and ambition-someone who can consistently perform at the highest level
Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills
Bachelor of Science Degree; preferable in Computer Science

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay range for this position is listed above. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors such as job-related skills, experience and education. This position is also eligible for a variable pay opportunity and a comprehensive benefits package which includes health, life and disability insurance, generous paid time off including paid parental and family care leave, an employee stock purchase plan and a 401(k) plan with a company match.
