POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Arlington, VA, or remote within the US

The Database Manager is a key member of the Development Operations team responsible for managing the execution of the day-to-day operations in Raiser’s Edge (RE), Conservation International’s fundraising CRM. Based in the Development Division and supporting fundraising efforts across the organization, this position is responsible for ensuring the highest level of accuracy of data in RE, through data hygiene procedures and attention to detail in data entry. This position will create and deliver RE training for fundraising staff throughout Conservation International. The Database Manager will serve as RE ambassador to users outside of Development, working closely with coordinators and managers responsible for RE tasks to advise on ways to improve functionality using existing features and capture feedback on areas that need improvement. The position will report to the Development Operations Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

DATABASE OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT

  • Serve as the ambassador of Raiser’s Edge and the first point of contact for RE users across the organization, helping all users use RE effectively and efficiently, including performing a Help Desk function when issues come up.
  • Responsible for executing existing data integrity checks and identifying gaps where new checks are needed and working with the Development Operations Team to implement them.
  • Develop and lead the training of new and current staff across CI in RE processes, functionality, and security.
  • Engage with and execute on a range of requests from the Development Division to enter and extract information from RE, including but not limited to global adds, list, queries, and reports.
  • Operationalize new systems, tools, and processes designed by the Director, Development Systems & Analytics, and ensure these changes are well communicated throughout RE user community.
  • Monitor and update user access and security settings in RE.
  • Contribute to the upkeep and additions of policies and procedures to the Operations Manual.
  • Perform as backup support on gift processing when gift volume exceeds normal capacity and/or when other Development Operations team members are out of the office.

PEOPLE AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This job does not directly manage staff but does have the authority to engage with CI staff as necessary in the day-to-day management of Raiser Edge.
  • May direct the work of vendors, interns, or temporary staff.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor. All members of the Development team regularly serve as back-up to colleagues who are away from the office for short periods of time or on projects with tight deadlines.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This will be either a remote position based in the United States or can be a hybrid position based out of CI’s Global Support Center in Arlington, Virginia. Hybrid positions are expected to work out of the office on average two days per week, and remotely on average three days per week.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate the time difference with HQ and field programs may be necessary.
  • Occasional travel to Arlington, VA Hub will be required if based remotely.

This mandatory vaccine requirement applies to all staff working remotely, in a hybrid work arrangement, and on-site in CI US offices. CI follows CDC recommendations for COVID-19 vaccines. QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4-6 years relevant job experience, with 3+ years of experience working in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically expertise in Excel is desired.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to take initiative and problem-solve in areas related to direct responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and critical thinking skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and within a team framework.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to function well in a multicultural, diverse, and fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a geographically dispersed team and to communicate with staff at offsite locations. This includes comfort with communicating via phone, Microsoft Teams, etc.

Preferred

  • Experience with ImportOmatic.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform, Pivot Tables, and/or Power Query.
  • Passion for CI’s mission and a demonstrated understanding of conservation.
