Backend & Infrastructure Engineer (Robotics Systems)
Job Overview
We’re a startup building decentralized hive robotics platforms that depend on real-time communication, coordination, and observability across a distributed network of autonomous systems. As our Backend & Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll be responsible for developing the APIs, telemetry pipelines, and internal tools that allow us to control, monitor, and scale the hive from anywhere.
This is an entry-level position — we don’t expect you to come in knowing everything. What we do expect is a strong work ethic, curiosity, and the willingness to dive into problems, learn by doing, and grow through collaboration. You’ll be working closely with embedded and systems engineers to help bridge software and hardware with fast, secure, and reliable infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design, Build and Maintain internal APIs for robotic hive control and telemetry ingestion
- Develop real-time WebSocket endpoints for drone status streaming
- Design local or cloud storage for logs, events, and system state
- Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines for firmware and API deployment
- Write internal dashboards and visualization tools
- Support secure communication protocols between backend, robots, and operators
- Automate testing and deployment of software
Minimum Qualifications
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript and HTML
- Experience with Docker, GitHub, and CI/CD workflows
- Familiarity with Linux environments
- Strong Git and version control workflow knowledge
- Ability to build and maintain simple front-end tools (React, CSS)
Recommended Qualifications
- B.S. or B.A. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
- Previous research or internship experience
- Cybersecurity practices (key rotation, encrypted communication)
- Familiarity with drone APIs, robotic systems, or remote command infrastructure
- Experience with telemetry systems or message queues

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
