We are hiring a staff-level Site Reliability Engineer to lead our observability and reliability program. Our goal — empower engineers to create reliable systems with full observablity. The result — reduce incidents, improve quality, increase reliability, and enable engineers to work more proactively. Doing this will require varied work: research, development, debugging, consultation, collaboration. This role has a tremendous opportunity to influence not only how we monitor our systems, but the methods and processes we leverage to achieve full observability.


In this role, you can expect to:


  • Lead the engineering organization in designing and building observability and reliability solutions (e.g., infrastructure monitoring, distributed tracing, SLOs / SLIs, service catalogue, disaster recovery)
  • Drive the incident management and postmortem process
  • Partner with engineering teams to implement observability tooling in their infrastructure and services, bolstering organizational understanding of how to measure latency, traffic, errors, and system saturation
  • Work with engineering teams to investigate and debug performance issues, help define more scalable architectures, and empower software engineers to understand how to build appropriate monitoring
  • Drive strategic best practices and initiatives around improving availability, latency, and quality across multiple departments & cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Leverage tools/languages such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Datadog, PagerDuty, Helm, Istio, ArgoCD, Python, Go
  • Act as a coach and mentor for more junior SRE team members and help level up the team


You are a good fit if you have:


  • 10+ years experience in software or infrastructure engineering, 5+ years of those years experience in Observability related role
  • Worked asynchronously as part of a fully-remote, distributed team
  • Strong technical leadership experience with observability concepts and tools
  • Clear communication, ability to work cross functionally with multiple engineering teams across product and infrastructure
  • Desire to coach and mentor more junior engineers


You'll have an edge if you have:


  • Expert level experience with Datadog
  • Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes
  • Experience monitoring infrastructure in AWS and Azure cloud platforms
  • Familiarity with cloud networking (DNS, loadbalancing)


Compensation & Benefits


  • Salary: $200,000 - $250,000
