DCFS/ CalSWEC Coordinator Role (TUC-Social Work)

The University Corporation is a non-profit auxiliary corporation providing commercial and administrative services to California State University, Northridge. Duties and Responsibilities:

This role is a joint role on 2 different grants with varied responsibilities on each grant. Please see the breakdown below:

DCFS Coordinator- 35%

  • Recruitment, preparation, and support of stipend students, including communication with practicum seminar liaisons,

practicum instructors, and LA DCFS Intern Field Coordinator.

  • Attendance at Department monthly meetings and practicum events, child welfare meetings and trainings, and child

welfare partnership meetings.

  • Partnership with LA DCFS HR regarding screening/hiring stipend students and graduates.
  • Collaboration with Principal Investigator on budget and evaluation components.
  • Communication with Practicum Education Director/Assistant Directors and other child welfare staff & faculty.

CalSWEC Child Welfare Practicum Coordinator- 65%

  • Support PC in recruiting new community based IV-E placement sites, agencies and practicum instructors in collaboration with Practicum Education Program
  • Participate in CalSWEC information sessions/recruitment activities
  • Participate in CalSWEC Title IV-E student interviews
  • Participate in pre-placement interviews of first year CalSWEC students
  • Support PC in placing first year CalSWEC students in community-based agencies in collaboration with Practicum Education Program
  • Participate in general admissions activities (which will provide a pool of future CalSWEC students)
  • Support PC in developing, planning, executing annual Child Welfare Orientation and Contract Signing
  • Support PC/CalSWEC Consultants with curriculum development/trainings, seminars

events

  • Provide backup to PC in particpation in county and statewide partnership events, activities and meetings
  • Possible practicum instruction of first year CalSWEC students in agencies without PI capacity should this function not be filled by CalSWEC Field Specialist position
  • Other duties as assigned to support the functioning of the CalSWEC Title IV-E program

Qualifications:

This position requires an MSW and previous work experience in the area of community and public child welfare. Previous practicum education experience desired, but not required. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and adjust priorities. Knowledge of and experience working with spreadsheets for tracking, monitoring and expediting practicum placement activities. Ability to develop effective working relationships with a diverse staff and university community and community-based agencies, including county public child welfare departments. Must have thorough knowledge of modern office equipment; office methods, and practices. Knowledge of PDF and excel spreadsheets. Knowledge of automated student information systems. English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities:

An applicant must have an ability to develop effective working relationships with diverse students, faculty, and staff in the Department, College, and public child welfare community. In addition, an applicant must have the ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community and public child welfare workers. An applicant must have an ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

This position is employed through The University Corporation (TUC).

Schedule: Monday-Friday 30 hours per week (20 hours with CalSWEC and 10 hours with DCFS)

Full Pay range: $38-42 per hour

The anticipated hiring range: $38-42 per hour

Time Base: Full-Time
