Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the Head of School to create a joyful learning culture, a sense of community, and a supportive school climate with high morale
- Develop cooperative, positive relationships with the students, parents, and staff through clear and effective communication
- Be a visible presence in all areas of the school community
- Analyze student achievement data to drive recommendations and decision-making
- With the Head of School, recruit, train, and develop highly qualified and mission-driven faculty and staff
- Through instructional leadership, observe, support, and mentor teachers in matters of teaching methods, curricular implementation, and school procedures
- Participate regularly in activities for recruiting and retaining students to develop enrollment
- Support the monitoring of student disciplinary records and academic performance and assist with the development of academic and social-emotional support programs
Areas of Focus
Lead the high school English, Social Studies, and World Languages departments, ensuring the translation of the school’s philosophy of combining traditional rigor with modern and relevant learning, personal purpose and thriving, and global citizenship into concrete curriculum and practice.
Support students (both middle and high school both academically and emotionally. Our high school program design is ambitious, and our intent is noble but without the right practical support for students, this will prove difficult. Responsibilities will include leading Project Wayfinder implementation, monitoring student culture assessments and analytics, supervising the implementation of IEPs, monitoring the high school “office hours” program, and coordinating the assessment calendar.
Experience & Credentials:
Bachelor's required, Master's preferred.
3 - 5 years' experience as a primary and/or middle school dean, preferably charter or independent.
3-5 years of supervisory experience.
